This a great sun shade! It really made a difference in the inside heat of the vehicle vs. Not having one. Night and day difference. I've always had the thin circular shades and this beats that hands down. Worth every penny.

Yes it will block the heat. The thickness makes work better and it does a good job of reflecting the sun. This only bends at the creases and is hard to put someplace away easily. Now the wife and son want for their vehicles for how well it works.
