Juvenile and a bit preachy but fun.
“One thing is for sure, that girl doesn’t need you boys running around trying to save her.”Thanks—I get it. Girl power. Subtle and nuanced, is not the thing here. Never mind the fact that anyone can need saving and gender isn’t a shield to the big bad. Never mind that in this instance only an outside power prevented the horror—and not some intrinsic talent or skill. So luck, yeah? Not a critic, luck has saved my life from the big bad more than once, and from my own stupidity more than a few, but the gender equality preaching ruins the dang story. Let’s all get over it. It’s just as bad nowadays as the old damsel in distress crap from yesteryear.Course I’ll freely admit that my cynical and scarred psyche would assume that said damsel is bait first and only consider being a “Good Samaritan” second. Personal failing as a human, I know. In my defense all my big bads were human—so yeah, sorry, not sorry.Regardless it’s well written and mostly fun. Give it a whirl despite a couple-three stupid things of this nature. I can forgive stupid cuz I’m stupid too sometimes—but I’m still gonna point it out cuz that’s how you cure stupid.I should know!

Wandering heroes or pirate slaves, this ocean voyage will not be easy!
Jim’s mission from the gods, Pride and Wrath, is growing more and more difficult as time passes. Which is normal for an invasion as it gains footholds. Jim and his friends are doing their best to kill the nox and prevent any further incursion by the dark mana demons.Eventually finding themselves on a ship heading where they need to go, they just need to escape from the manacles that mute their Qi. Take over the ship and Saul to their destination to kill more nox!Simple right? Nope, cause Jim is not the luckiest fellow and the gods seem to enjoy his trials and the irony of some of his new life. But they have no patience for fools and he was the greatest fool they had seen, but he seems to be growing out of that… or is he?Another great cultivation story with a young team growing and fighting while traveling the world in pursuit of a noble goal. Kill all the nox before the gods decide to destroy the planet rather than let the nox convert it to the dark!

“This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”I am not going to share my reasoning, thoughts on the book, or any opinions that would influence your decision to read it. I am simply saying that I liked it. I would like you to read it and make your own decision. After all, you are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.I will happily discuss the book with you on Goodreads if you are so inclined. As always, I am open to debates and arguments, but also vain enough to seek acknowledgement, so feel free to roast me or applaud my efforts. Either is acceptable, because if you are paying attention to me then you are at least considering the book. And THAT my friends is exactly why you see my comments here.(Yep...hit with the banhammer.)Cheers

New author mistakes makes this middling at best.
Story all to often feels forced with characters doing things and not, along with behaving ooc in ways that come across as wrong when considered, just to further the plot. This harms the overall story from my POV as the reader. The preponderance of monologs mid combat along with a constant bumbling comedy of errors, with nothing really working out until taken to the extreme, becomes painful rather quickly. There are also some issues with what I consider plot holes that are barely covered over with excuses, some which carry over from the previous books. Added to that is a not infrequent breaking of the 4th wall when the author attempts comedy or the like. Mentions of things from other story universes and what not, then adding to that with a wink wink “did you see what I did there” sentence.. I found it off putting to say the least. All that said if a person doesn’t mind some of the issues mentioned and is able to apply slightly more suspension of disbelief then I, why then I figure this book will surely entertain. It is not as if it doesn’t have its good points too.Personally I just think it could be so much more. This is of course only the 3rd instalment in a series by a completely new author and the promise I have perceived so far suggests the possibility of great things to come in the future, from Michael Head.

At Least There's...
...no *completely* bone-headed actions by Jim in this volume. Once again, Head has put together a fast-paced action story that will keep you turning the pages. The humor he injects into these stories gives a good, lived-in, feel that makes it enjoyable as well as an exciting story. The main trouble I find in the protagonist is his professed loss of trust, due to his best friend's betrayal in volume one, and his lack of caution towards people he grows to "like" over a (relatively) short period of time. Jim always gets either led into, or directly betrayed into, life-threatening danger. All this, while having "trust issues. " The protagonist needs to be a bit more paranoid or, at least, have a "trust, but be prepared for betrayal " kind of attitude that a 650+ year-old soul *should* have towards people after the betrayals he's been through.

Excellent
The 3rd instalment is just as good as the previous 2. And if you’ve got this far you don’t need me to tell you how entertaining they were. Get reading you won’t be disappointed.

2/5 Okay
I don't really write review but you can't rate a book without one now. For me books go into three group "Good", "Bad" and "Okay".
