My 11yr old has found this book useful and fun. He likes the activities included so it's not all "work".I actually wish the book broke down the words phonetically and had a key for certain sounds via spelling. Ie: the "ci" spelling makes a "ch" sound.

I am very disappointed when I saw a curse word on the very first page. There was an obscenity beginning with the letter F. My granddaughter opened the brand new book and showed it to me. Personally, I think that a nine-year-old little girl should NOT be reading things like this. It is a terrible disgrace to her and the book. She was very surprised when she saw it in this children's book . This is very bad and I might never read this book again. Can someone tell me why this was in this book???

I've just bought this for my 9 year old. I'm surprised that there is absolutely no guidance at all on pronunciation. I'm having to go through it and write out the phonetic spellings for him, not quite what I had envisaged! Shame as the concept and layout of the book is great.
