Q: Must all the water in the tank be drank at the completion of a workout?

No. You should change it every 6 months. You put a clarifier table in when you add or change the water.

Q: How accurate are the readings on the digital monitor?

The strokes and total strokes readings seem quite accurate . As for the 500 meter and average intensity readings, I’m not too sure. Calories reading seems arbitrary but that’s usually the case with any gym equipment monitor. If you’re an avid rower or someone looking to train for competitive rowing then I suggest you stick with something like a Concept 2 which has a reputation for having one of the more advanced and accurate monitors out there. But if you’re someone looking for a decently priced well-built water rower,, I think you’d be hard pressed to do better than this unit for under $600

You will need approximately 4 gallons of water to fill the water tank. Distilled water isn't necessary as you are suppose to add purification tablets.
