The Awkward Human Survival Guide: How to Handle Life's Most Uncomfortable Situations Paperback – April 1, 2014

Picking up the book to read for the first time, with no background knowledge of the content, I started reading in a serious mood. "Oh" I said, "this is going to be a good situational advice book" and prepared for and educational chapter. Within three sentences I was laughing out loud and flipping through the other chapters to see what else would be popping up. Then I read one short chapter and had that feeling that I want to salvage the enjoyment of this book out as long as I can. Now I allow myself a chapter a day, hoping the sequel with soon be in the writing stages. Whatever time I read my chapter, it brightens the moment and the advice is "right on", too.There is something in this book for everyone and I highly recommend it.

I was hoping for something a little bit more applicable to my age, but found this to really be written for college age or recent college grads. Honestly I was disappointed. They never explain some if the more tricky things, like keeping somebody with no boundaries in check, but resorted to explaining how to gracefully deal with saying I love you too early, which was just to talk with the person about it. After 20 years of being an adult akward person, I was really looking for help dealing with people who can't have an honest and open discussion for whatever reason, and this book offered absolutely no help in that arena.

Bought for a friend, and I'm thinking about buying one for myself. I read the first chapter and found it to be pretty funny. It also had some tips that are useful, awkward or not. The person receiving the gift loved it and put the tips to use nearly immediately. Regardless of whether you need the tips, it's a funny read, and it's even inexpensive to boot! Bottom line: buy it and enjoy.

I had this sitting on my desk at work and a coworker picked it up from the alluring cover. Thirty minutes later he was still reading and when asked why, his reply was "There's some really great info in here!" Granted he's Swedish but he is pretty awkward. Anything that covers pooping during sex is definitely going to cover the gamut of awkwardness :)

I ordered this for a gift, then noticed the pages are out of order. It cuts off and jumps around all through the book. Thinking I just got a defective one, I had them send me a replacement. Same thing. It starts with pages 82 and 83 then the intro followed by page 86, mid way through a paragraph. It continues like this the whole way through. Unreadable.

I would fully recommend this to all the People that regulary struggle with difficutlies in interacting with other human beings.

Seriously, you will laugh at each page, it's that amazing! Buy it, you won't regret it.

Adam and Erica seem to have experienced most awkward thing people can experience. The advice in this book is really good and goes deeper than I realized it would. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an interesting read.

You will find humor, a lot of it in fact, but written between the lines is a wonderful call-to-arms for any misunderstood, socially awkward, shy, or otherwise plain "different" person.The courage in tackling some of the greatest awkward moments, and their gracious exits, gives this book far more weight than just the tongue-in-cheek marketing implies.I would purchase two, as one will most definitely end up rather Awkwardly over used.

This book is an easy read, and could be helpful but I was looking for something more helpful than humorous.

I am a Boomer, but I enjoy Gen Y people, so the book looked interesting. It wasn't; it was really basic. Maybe it was a parody, maybe I've been punked. Either way, it was not a keeper.. Off to the used bookstore.It was more like a collection of daily "must make an entry in my blog" writings.

It was a gift, quite funny. Slow delivery.
