Lamp black great in Lacquer
I added a small amount to satin lacquer and sprayed it onto some furniture I was making. I had previously tried lots of ways to stain my wooden furniture black and they all came out blotchy and inconsistent. Several coats of lacquer with just a little of this mixed in and a quick sand with 400 grot paper and it looks like shop bought furniture. What a great finish, consistently black over the entire piece with a lovely soft sheen. This product worked amazingly well.

Worked beautifully on my ugly concrete porch
Worked beautifully on my ugly concrete porch. I squeezed the straight tint on to the floor about a tablespoon (use gloves). I had a container of water and a sponge and used. circular motions. Duplicate again until finished. I quickly finished the front porch in 30 minutes, and it dried quickly. I'm going to do the driveway, then seal. Fabulous, so easy and incredibly beautiful. This is an unconventional approach, and I suggest following instructions, but I step outside the box and like to experiment. Gorgeous color, and depending on the dilution, it is a marbling effect.

This is colorant, not paint
I’ve been using these products for about 40 years. The products have changed due to AQMD specifications. However, so have the paints. As a scenic artist, I am able to match colors or create colors on the spot. I needed to create stone colors for this wall in front of my friend’s restaurant. The river rocks had to look absolutely real.Great product for professional use.

Used at the change my house color paint
I hired a high-end professional painter to do my deck (sanding, caulking, priming, and sealing) and decided I needed to redo the back wall paint also, which was not painted very well from the previous owners. I was looking for a color kind of similar to what was there when we were playing around with a I color already had. I don’t mind beige undertones, but I wanted a little bit of gray to it. He added some of this black to it (and previously green to help take out the red tones) and we ended up with kind of a greige color. Oddly it matched almost perfectly one of the old colors inside the garage. A little goes a long way so you should get up more than you need with this bottle. This is the brand that my painter normally buys.

Caution!!!
One user said they used it straight from the bottle on a concrete porch. Do not do that! This tint will not dry if it is not mixed with paint. It will stay moist and get all over everything just like grease.

Powerful stuff
2 teaspoons tints 5 gallons of clear to make a great deck or fence stain. We used 1/2 raw umber and 1/2 raw sienna. Looking forward to mixing other colors for other projects. Hint, if you use this in oil, mix it with acetone first. Then it will mix fine. Otherwise, you will have clumps. Mixing it a day before really helps, too.

not universal - water based solvent only
label says universal colorant. it's universal if your universe consists of water based paints only. does not work with oil based paint, shellac or lacquer.

Great value
Worked great. Took less than 1oz to tint Sherwin Williams paint to darker color.
