The sequel is off to a good start but be warned, it's quite gory
I enjoyed the original Love in Hell trilogy and a few days ago, Amazon brought up this sequel as something that might be of interest. I was a bit nervous as sequels are often not as good as the original. However, I just finished Love in Hell: Death Life and it does have promise. The premise is the same as before: a deceased young male finds himself in Hell and under the guidance of a sexy female demon. Sousuke committed suicide and meets his demon Sanagi. Trouble starts when he pokes fun at her short stature; Sousuke learns this is a really bad thing to do when Sanagi literally cuts him down to size (she's good with sharp objects). Fortunately, the damned quickly recover from their tortures and Hell offers orientation lectures. We meet some old friends from the original series and some new souls and demons. The story is good and drew me in but I should note that this is a very gory series (noteworthy on this count is the scene at the Hall of Penitence). If you have low tolerance for blood and guts, definitely look elsewhere. However, if you enjoyed the first Love in Hell, it's likely you'll also enjoy the first volume of the sequel.

Not as good as the first.
While this is amusing and rather entertaining I feel it lacks the charm of the first Love in Hell series. While in the first series I felt myself grow attached to the main characters in this one I don't really feel strongly for them. I find myself caring more about the background characters thinking this series should be more about them than the two individuals the series focuses on. The main boy is a bit of a brat and I kinda feel like he deserves to be Hell unlike the man in the orginal. Still a good read but if you expect it to be like the first you might find it lacking.

Not as good as the first book "Love in Hell", but still funny.

Love in Hell is back for more love! And more Hell...
The author returns with the charm and the art style of the first LiH manga series. Includes light philosophy and sentiment for spice.
