This transformer works great as a fractal wood burning tool. Caution is still recommended as a shock can still be very dangerous. It burns slow and fine. You can control the burns a lot better than with a microwave transformer. It takes a little to get used to if your coming from a microwave unit. It must be in contact at all times before and after turning it on otherwise a safety inside will turn it off. Which is an unexpected safety bonus!

The media could not be loaded.  Used some 15kv gto wire(also bought on Amazon) and some old jumper cable clamps. Nailed some copper nails into the wood and connected the clamps to them. Put workpiece on plastic tool box or tire to insulate from the ground. Burns very slowly about 1square inch per 20 seconds or about 35 minutes per square foot but burns with very fine detail. 2 tbsp. Sodium bicarbonate per quart of water. Ive tried messing around with microwave transformers to save money but electrocution is not worth saving 40 dollar. Also I like the neon sign transformer better than mwt. Took half an hour to setup. Don't e-cute yourself, have fun!

Made this into a lichtenberg machine for fractal wood burning. I ended up attaching a set of heavy duty alligator clips to the lead wires with two nails to act as the probes. Be careful if your using this like I am, 10k volts is very serious. Also make sure your using it in a well ventilated area. If using like I am and you find it won't work, there's a very good chance your water to baking soda ratio is off. You'll have to play around with the mixture as well as the amount of wetness on the wood to get it to burn just right. There are alot of helpful videos on youtube.

I bought this 10kV 30mA neon sign transformer UL listed from USA amazon, the input power is 120V AC, the plug is 3-prong US plug, the input calbe is about 2 metres, the output cable is about 0.5 metre, 1 pull-chain switch and 1 rocker switch, there is 1 instruction and 1 neon sign transformer in the package, no probes, handles, extension cable,copper rods, alligator clips, clamps in the box. Perhaps delivery shock, it did not work, I contacted the custmer service through buyer seller message on USA amazon, he told me how to test, but it still did not work, the service told me not to return this neon sign transformer, he will send me one free from USA amazon, the new one arrived in 2 days, very quickly. He told me unconditionally refund within 1 year receipt of the neon sign transformer. This seller is honest, he will show us the disadvantage, such as burning slowly, shallowly and narrowly in the listing. I use the neon sign transformer as lichtenberg machine, the lichtenberg wood burn is awesome. Excellent customer service. Will deff recommend.

Received my burner before the estimated arrival time. The transformer is a slower burn than the ones taken from a microwave , but that is ok with me . I feel like it is a safer rate of burning . No big flashes of fire . Over all this transformer was a good buy . I might venture to something bigger at some point , but is fitting my needs as a beginner .

The media could not be loaded.  Considering how possibly dangerous this hobby can be, the lack of instructions were a bit disappointing. Thank goodness for Google! However, the ease of set up and use is why I give it 5 stars. I’ve wanted to try this for so long, but I was nervous about it. This bundle (I highly suggest getting the bundle, worth the price) made its use much more fun and simple. I’m already making a few items with this effect. This is well worth the price and a great new addition to my long list of hobbies I already do
