The food that i have stored includes cererals, floor, and oatmeal. I have not faced any taste difference storing food in these containers. However, i washed these containers pretty well before using it. **Q: I just recieved these storage containers and while closing one I broke the tab off can I get a new lid minuse the gaskets** A: I actually had a broken tab on one of mine when I opened up my package. I didn't want to mess with the hassle, so I let it be. The tabs was one of the shorter ones on the end and not the longer ones on the side. It seems to still seal A-OK. I would contact Amazon or the seller, if you want a new lid. Good luck. **Q: Is it easy to hold onto and pour? My hands are small.** A: They are very easy to hold onto. They have intentions to make it easy for handling and pouring. I really like mine. They are THE BEST for space saving anything and accessing the items when the square end end faces out. This way nothing is stacked behind another and hidden. They seal really well. I have them in the kitchen and for school & art supplies because few other containers fit spaghetti laying flat. For crafts they are much longer than a new pencil, but all other brands the pencils only fit at an angle.
