Lore Olympus: Volume Two

Amazing Must Have Book
Important to know: This is not for childrenIt deals with lots of issues such as rape, manipulation, abuse, dysfunctional relationships, mental health and more. So don’t be mislead by the cover art it’s 100% for adults or older teens say high school age.Lore Olympus is an amazing story it is a WEBTOON series that due to the love of so many has now been put into book form. This is volume 2 volume 1 is a must as well personally I’m collecting them all as they come out. It’s the telling of how Persephone was taken by Hades reimagined so a whole new perspective in things that shows their relationship from the moment Hades sees her. It’s a love story but not a fairy tale this story shows how love is complicated and not always pretty it also shows how real love can survive through difficult times and how 2 people who come from different worlds can fall in love against the odds. The story evolves much like the art style as the writer has improved her skills over the course of time. Hades is the god of the underworld but he’s no beast or cold hearted ruler. He’s lonely and fallen into an abusive pattern with a woman who is verbally and physically abusive towards him. He had settled for this life as he does not believe anyone could love him given his trauma and his position. While he is feared by many he’s not a villain simply a man with a traumatic childhood that has left him scared he’s content with his life but not happy that is until he sees Persephone and everything changes.Persephone is young and beautiful as well as intelligent and very sheltered with a domineering mother who believes she knows best but in reality doesn’t know her daughter at all she’s not a child but a young woman yearning for more but incredibly codependent on her mother. She dreams of more and wants to experience the worlds but her mother keeps her away from all men and as such Persephone is depressed. After a compromise is reached she is allowed to venture out and be part of society as long as she is watched cared for and lives with another goddess. This is when her life changes and she is unprepared for all that lies ahead her naivety leads her to deal with life in a way she’s not ready for. She endures trauma and physical abuse by someone who has his own agenda and plans for her. She is raped, gas lighted, blackmailed and more still she’s trying to be who she really is but is being bullied at every turn by those that believe they know best. One fateful night while out she catches the attention of Hades himself who is overcome by her beauty and sadness she’s not like any he’s ever known and she doesn’t fear him. While their unusual courtship sees a whole lot of problems the manage to keep on being involved with each other via work and become friends and later confirm their feelings for each other. Hades will never leave her he’s protective of her innocence and with reason as others wish to use her as a pawn. He provides a safe place for her and gets her the help she needs to overcome her traumas and abuse an assert herself so she can take control of her life. He refuses to use her or abuse his position to have her for himself and she refuses to believe he could ever see her as more then a friend. This is an ongoing story and the future for their relationship is sure to be something you will be excited for as 2 very different people grow together. As I said in the beginning this is for mature readers and it’s one of my favorites if you need more go checkout the WEBTOON that began it all. Hope you enjoy!

Starting a collection
I’ve been reading Lore Olympus for the better part of 4 years now and I preordered all 3 as soon as they became available. The physical book itself is quite beautiful and so colorful. Both volumes are displayed on my favorites bookshelf. The story is wonderfully written and Rachel has gotten so much of my money over the years because I pay for fast pass every week. It’s such a creative retelling on the Hades/Persephone myth and while it does include several adult themes, it doesn’t include others from the original myth like Persephone being taken against her will or the fact that Zeus is her Dad/Uncle. It’s a beautiful love story and I hope Rachel doesn’t finish this story for a long time

Excelente libro ✨️

Forever a favorite
I've known this comic for a while, and it's beyond beautiful. I've read the digital version on webtoon and decided to buy the hardcover books for collection purposes. It's beautiful and my favorite retelling of Hades and Persephone

Oh Hades, I'll see you when I end up in the underworld...
Rachel Smythe has done an excellent job retelling the tale of Hades and Persephone minus the classic troubling abduction and incarceration, etc. Without spoilers, there are triggering incidents, however these are dealt with the greatest of respect. The artwork is wonderful and abstract. There are a minority of people who claim Rachel isn't putting much effort into her art, not to mention there are people out there taking her art and putting their twist and editing it, claiming to make it better. I for one don't think they understand the underlying thoughts and feeling,s and how the story should be relayed, and are using their bias to tell their version of events. It's a bizarre world we live in when readers demand the look and story to be drawn/written in a way to match their own perceptions, as opposed to digging deeper and understanding the author's choices. It's a thrilling, and beautiful love story full of obstacles and good humour, but also heartbreaking with dark and violent scenes that hits you where it hurts.Season two starts with the aftermath of what happened to Persephone in Season one. She starts her internship in the Underworld and things don't go as smoothly for her and Hades. Not to mention, Minthe is still in the picture. It's a fantastic read and the artwork is a joy. I've not been this invested in a love story for a very long time.
