Gore Vidal
I thought I knew all there was to know about Gore Vidal. This book proved me wrong. An excellent summing upof his life and work. Well written, informative, and enjoyable.

I have read some, but not all, of Vidal' work, and enjoyed all.
Because the author tells the true history of the USA which very few Americans learn about, unaware of the obscene ideology they are taught to live by.G.lutri

A portrait of arare man
Came to this book not knowing much at all about Gore Vidal, except for Myra Breckinridge of course, and left admiring the man for his genius in capturing the vbve of the latter 20th century so well. I'll now go and read some of his works including Julian and Burr, plus the essays.

Fascinating
This is much more than a biographical essay, it is an analysis of the man behind the myth. Vidal has always fascinated me--I have read nearly all of his essays and most of his novels. This portrait paints the picture of the maqn behind the words. A great accomplishment!

Good as a reference
The facts are there. If you are doing a research paper on Gore Vidal, this would be a good reference but as eccentric and brilliant as Gore Vidal was, I don't think this book really captured that.
