Q: Any idea how to stop the watch illuminating during the night when on your wrist? Loving the watch apart from that one aspect

Yes, you have a couple of options. Profile Settings Night mode There you can set it for night mode, and that prevents the dial illuminating when you move your wrist. Or if you have your night mode set on your phone, you can use follow system. Then it automatically goes into night mode with your phone, and goes back to normal during the day. (This is the setting I prefer)

Q: Does it have always ON display?

I believe it does. You can set sensitivity of the watch so it comes to life with a wrist flick. On all of the time will reduce battery life, it lasts for 7 or 8 days without a re charge.

Q: Does the watch have an Altimeter showing the height as you walk or climb up and down hills

The watch can show altitude information on the 'barometer' page. It displays the current air pressure and altitude on this page. The altitude is calibrated against the GPS when this page is active.
