These are the official, Genuine Air Force sunglasses from American Optics, the leading supplier to the U.S. government. The lenses are scratch-resistant true color glass, meaning the grey lenses do not distort the colors you see through them. They also offer 100% UV protection, protecting your eyes from the sun's harmful rays. As you can see, the ear pieces are bayonet style. This pair has gold frames and 52mm lenses. Larger 57mm lenses are also available, as are black or silver frames. Ship with the black case you see pictured.

I have guarded them and have taken good care of them I like the shape and comfort ...
I was in the Navy (the Aviation department) and these were the glasses to have! I got discharged in 1975 and I still have my Nave Flight Glasses, I have guarded them and have taken good care of them I like the shape and comfort of this style glasses so when I needed to start wearing prescription glasses I ordered these, removed the dark lenses and had the prescription lenses installed in this frame. I'm a pilot and the bayonet temples fit well under my headset. I do get some second looks from some people, I suppose they just aren't used to seeing people wearing prescription lenses in this style frames (when I was in the Navy it was a pretty common sight) I think they look fine, and besides if they are good enough for Tom Cruise "American Made" they are good enough for me! In short I think these are excellent glasses.

Nicest glasses I have owned.
The first things I noticed about these glasses was that the silver frames stand out against the gray lenses much more than I anticipated and the tint on the lenses is not as dark as I was hoping. Other than that these glasses are awesome, the quality of the metal frames and the finish is great, no scratches at all on the frames after about 2 months of use. The glass lenses also seem to resist scratching very well, scratches on lenses drive me up the wall. Of course you have to treat them with care, I did get one minor scratch on the lens but it is nearly impossible to see while wearing them even though it is directly in my line of vision. I would definitely buy these again, and I love the fact that you can buy replacement parts from AO. These are not throw away glasses!

Weight, quality and lenses are as I remember on my issue glasses.
I was not disappointed. The photo does not do these justice. The glasses actually look better than the picture shown on the 52mm version. Most of the time things do not measure up to my high expectations. I was pleasantly surprised.Definite buy...worth the money. Build quality and perceived quality is a little better than my RayBan Caravans which I also love.

True to the original, for better and worse
Pros: Classic style, solid construction, a variety of sizes to fit any face, fair priceCons: Heavy with the glass lenses, nose pads are placed awkwardly and are too slippery.I love these glasses for their classic styling, and the 52mm lenses fit my narrow face well. However they always want to slide off of my face, even after having the nose pads adjusted. The bayonet style arms, heavy lens weight, and widely spaced/slippery nose pads combine to make them difficult to keep on the bridge of my nose. I think these would be great for a pilot or someone who wants to wear them with a hat, but they aren't really a practical choice otherwise. If you like the style and want to give them a try, I would recommend the polycarbonate lens version.

Great sunglasses, with a couple issues.
Fit my face very well, have good weight to them. They seem to have great quality. The reason I am not giving this review 5 stars is because of their quality control. When I received my sunglasses, the right nosepad was pushed extremely far to the right. I bent it back, but it took me a lot of effort to get it right without scratching the finish or a lense (the metal is quality, so it is very stiff and I was afraid to snap it). Additionally, the left earpiece on the sunglasses, which is made of translucent plastic, is very scratched.Overall, I am satisfied with the quality of the product. I will recommend them, but my experience has left some quality control to be desired.

Very cool, legit aviator sunglasses. Real glass lenses without distortion. Great buy.
Very cool sunglasses. I used to be in Naval Aviation and wanted to get real, legit aviator sunglasses not the ones that everyone calls aviators. After a little research decided on AO and don't regret it at all. They fit great and look great. They are real glass lenses so there is no distortion. They feel a little heavy in the hand, which gives a feel of quality, but not on the face. Very comfortable for all day wear.

Timeless style at half the price (52mm, glass lenses)
The most solid build on a pair of pilot sunglasses you'll ever see. Was really on the fence with choosing a size after reading these Amazon reviews. I ended up getting the 52mm and have no regrets. Yes, they do hug the temples, but that's the fit you'd want if you were wearing a flight helmet I would think. Keep that in mind with size. They'll fit tight on the sides at first, but the frames will bend to your head shape. I'm a size 7 in New Era fitted baseball caps for reference. I had to adjust the nosepads a little to prevent from sliding down my nose. I'd give these a 5 star rating if they didn't slip down my nose some times. For the price and original styling these can't be beat. The matte chrome goes with all of my work attire and go perfectly with a t-shirt and jeans alike.

some good some bad
In terms of just straight up reducing sun glare, these rock. They don't change colors like cheap sun glasses. The lenses are real glass, which is nice, but....That makes them heavy, and over time the frames have stretched out a little. Thus, when I go to put them on the top of my head, they slide off and they slide down my nose because they aren't as tight as they used to be. Maybe I ordered the wrong size and my head just stretched them out? I don't know, but I've never had that happen to me before.
