I purchased this particular can opener, because after reading the company description, I thought it was made in the USA. I try to buy American whenever I can. The can opener has a made in Taiwan stamp in the metal. It doesn't make the can opener any less useful. It is sturdy and well made. I expect it last a lifetime, or until I misplace it.

Time ago, I purchased a food steamer from Norpro. I received an item that prove itself to be outstanding. When I saw this Punch Can Opener from Norpro I had an instinctive reaction, and I ordered the punch immediately. To my delight ~and for the second time~ I received a Norpro product that did not disappoint me. This Punch Can Opener works as I expected. Tenaciously, it grabs the lip of the can allowing an effortless punch in the can. Moreover, the center portion of the piece actually is wood. No, it is not fake wood. It really is wood! It all means that Norpro delivers a product that fulfills what is promised and looks good enough to show others.

This is a solid piece. the wood is tightly attached and nice looking, has a rich appearance, not cheap or flimsy. I'm happy I chose this one over other plastic or metal. I just need one in the drawer, and mostly use it to put the point under a lid and slightly lift it, to break the seal and easily twist of metal caps to jars. Much better looking than the ancient rusted metal one. good purchase.
