Exceeded expectations
I am having rotator cuff surgery. I needed a stand so I could do my Crosstitch one-handed. I ordered a few to try and this was the clear winner. The picture shows it sitting on my laptop, so it was much larger than I expected. It took less than five minutes to assemble. A QSnap frame will not fit but my nurge fits as well any bamboo hoops.

Good after adjustments
I’ve been experiencing hand cramping during long hand embroidery sessions so thought trying something that holds the hoop for me while I’m sitting might help. That is where this product comes in. It really does help - but that is after my husband added some wood glue and nails. The long vertical arm is held into the base by quite a small screw and the base itself is not thick. The long arm would not stay screwed in at all so the entire thing kept falling apart. But my husband applied wood glue to the arm and put in 4 nails on the bottom to secure long arm to base and now this product works perfectly. If we did not have to go through this trouble I would have given 5 stars.

Best on a flat surface.
Not a fan, I bought it and it sits on a side table because it is useless on my sofas....

Several issues but fixable
Everything was out together easily and worked well for a couple of days until the knob that holds the height adjustment in place stopped holding well. The height would drop or swing towards me because the knob seems too smooth or something to really grip the dowel.I used electrical tape after talking to others with the same problem and wrapped it around the dowel careful not to overlap the edges making it too thick. This has helped keep the height where I want it though after about a week I have had to replace some of the tape, but it's cheap. Overall I like it, it takes the weight and pressure off of my hand/finger joints which caused pain.*Update after 4 month use*The knob for holding the hoop became stripped quite quickly as there isn't anything actually holding the screw into the wood and the screw would unscrew from the wood while attempting to actually tighten the hoop hold. My partner was able to fix it for me with a nut and new bolt (not entirely sure what he did, just know that now it tightens more than it ever did before and is secure). So there have been several issues with the quality of the build that have been very frustrating. However I don't overall regret the purchase, just wish these issues weren't issues.

Just okay
It sorta works. This is the second frame I’ve tried, the other was a different style. The cloth is always coming loose. It works in that it gives me a marginally better easier surface to work with. I like it better than nothing. I find the clips somewhat difficult to manage and get everything lined up to stay. I deal with it. It’s better than nothing.

Best used with hoops, not frames.
I should have looked more carefully at the clamp on this stand but I was too psyched about the paddle to sit on and didn't really think things through. It's not a bad product, just not what I was personally looking for in this instance. This stand arrives unfinished and is made from a blonde wood that I know will stain easily, so it may be a consideration to put at least a clear varnish on it to help keep it clean. It assembled easily and I appreciate that there was a plastic height knob included with the wooden one, as it seems a lot sturdier and holds better. As a stand it seems to work fine. The clamp, however, is really only built for embroidery hoops, and thinner ones at that - I was hoping to use it with an embroidery frame but the dowels in it are too thick to be firmly clamped. The bolt used in the clamp isn't quite long enough to accommodate their width, and the clamp itself isn't big enough to get a good grip. My work on the frame is just too heavy and it slips out, which is unfortunate as I was able to get a good angle using this setup as opposed to the floor-standing stands that always feel like they're wobbly and in the way.I did try a standard embroidery hoop in this frame and that worked great, so it will be a good option when I'm working on smaller projects.I took off one star for the unfinished wood, as it would be a nice feature if it were sealed or finished in some way.

Works well.
Because the stand holds your hoop, you have both hands free, and the hand that would have had to hold the hoop doesn't get tired or sore!
