Is the mat precolored under when you use the water pens to reveal color?

Yes, it is precolord underneath, so when you use the water pens beautiful colored pictures appear.

It’s not working for me? Is it defective or just a crap item?

We returned ours after receiving it. The white drawing area was flaking off in the areas of the fold. We received a replacement item with the same issues. I found this item to be of very poor quality.

Did I read the instructions correctly it says to iron mat why?

We didn't iron the mat. My granddaughter and her mother just opened the box and spread out the mat, and we started using it right away. It worked great!

Toddler scribbled on the mat using an ink pen. anyone know how i can get rid of the marks without damaging the material?? tia

alcohol based products gets ink out. I use it all the time when my little ones become Picaso on my cloth couch. Germex, alcohol, or anything as that. comes off easily. Hope this works for your mat!
