Review: Whoa! - I purchase these kinds of enclosures all the time. The larger ones can get pretty pricey. I was not happy about having to buy another one of these so I decided to try these FAR less expensive enclosures. Honestly, these enclosures are far better quality than the ones from Hammond, Bud, etc, and they are about 1/3 the price. The enclosure walls are thicker material, the enclosure is sturdier overall. The hinges are metal, the latches are more robust. The door is gasketed, and when the latches are closed, the gasket is compressed. I haven't used this outdoors, but I have no doubt that it will work well when exposed to the elements. It comes with a backplate and DIN rails, both things that cost extra with everyone else. The enclosure contains notches along both sides to allow the DIN rails to be mounted in 1 inch (ish) incremements inside, without drilling holes through the enclosure. The only thing I will mention is that the mounting feet are plastic where often with other manufacturers you get metal. However, these feet fit into the enclosure with a anti-twist feature, so even if the feet are installed sideways, they won't twist under the weight of the enclosure. Nice! It's not often that one can get a thing that is far better than the usual channels, and at a better price point. You won't be disappointed. Grab one before the price goes up!

The lighter weight from it not being metal is a big bonus for this usage. It's certainly not cheap, but it is very high quality. A metal back plate and 3 DIN rails are included. It has already been through heavy rain and did not leak. I would purchase again. I drilled holes for vents with a DC fan mount on both sides for ventilation of the solar controller since I live in Texas. After adding a breaker, ANL fuse, solid state relay, and fuse box, there's still a bit more room for the circuit board I plan on adding later for automation. I highly recommend covering your hands and arms when drilling into this enclosure or you will end up uncomfortable for a while. A face mask wouldn't be a bad idea either.

A: No punch outs in the two sizes I ordered.   I'll have to measure & cut my own.

A: The Fiberglass ones should be ok

**Q: I'm confused, the title says steel enclosure, but it also says fiberglass electrical box. which is it?**
A: The shell is not metal but all points of connection or stress are reinforced with metal. This is a lightweight but solid unit. I am 100% satisfied with this box.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ very high-quality boxes at a low price

I needed some weatherproof enclosures to contain a large 25 pound LifePo4, battery and charger, and these worked perfectly. I did have to make a slight modification, but only because I chose the wrong size box. The depth of the box is given as 7 1/2 inches, on the inside, and my batteries for 6 1/2 inches deep. But that’s not all usable because of some bracing that is molded into the back of the box. After removing the metal back plate and DIN rails, which I didn’t need, I had to grind down the bracing on the bottom part of the box in order for my battery to go all the way back. If I hat gotten the next deeper box, that would’ve solved the problem.
