The Midwinter Mail-Order Bride (The Dead Lands)

Wow. What a ride.I had no idea that a story so short could have so much depth. I loved this book.

Anja is going to get herself a kingdom, even if she has to marry a man she doesn’t know and kill him in order to get it. Kael on the other hand doesn’t even know he’s looking for a bride. And when these two meet, things don’t exactly go to plan for either of them.I was expecting this to be just another easy read but it wasn’t. I really enjoyed the story from start to finish and loved watching the main characters learn about one another and fall in love. Kael is all alpha male, brutish, violent but with a tender heart he keeps well hidden. Anja is fierce, determined and a little broken, as she’s never really felt loved or even appreciated. Miscommunication, or rather careless words, cause the tension in ‘The Midwinter Mail-Order Bride’ and it’s quite something to watch, as their respect for one another is what seems to keep them apart. It’s a beautiful story which left me feeling inspired, and that’s what made it more than just another romance story to me. Read it and judge for yourselves. I’m confident you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

Gripping read from start to finish... Love the leads and supporting characters and the world the writer has built up. A nice weekend read.

This was so much fun it actually deserved a five from me which was a huge surprise. I honestly didn't expect to be quite as entertained as I was by the brutish, barbaric Kael but he definitely won me over. Yes he is a character without finesse but there's so much goodness in his heart. Pairing him with Anja, who turns out to be his perfect mail order bride was truly magical. This slow burn romance felt a lot like a fairy tale at times but the dirty talk definitely caught my attention and made these characters feel real. I enjoyed the world building, got caught up in the adventure and just couldn't stop smiling at the epilogue. A new author to me but one I will look out for.

I just loved reading this. I am now off to find out more stories by this author. A great read.

Wow! I so enjoyed this book. Great plot with likeable characters you can't not love. Pack with action, adventure, intrigue and hot romance. Anja is a princess that has agreed to marry the most feared of all men but Kael refuses her and agrees to accompany her to her parents kingdom and fight a foe that only she sees. We are taken in a journey where both will learn about each other and their hearts. Highly recommended

Really enjoyed this novella, which no doubt helped by the fact it's longer than most other short stories. Great characters who have depth and substance.

As one of the Mail Order Bride special novella series, I was looking forward to a nice short bite of steamy romance. I got more than I'd bargained for, however, finding not only a pair of genuinely interesting and likeable lovers but also nicely realised world with room for much more storytelling. I hope Ms Wilde decides to keep her promise from the epilogue and give us some more of this place and it's people.
