Works Reasonably Well
I received the Click 'n Dig Key Finder the day after ordering, so the company 2Go Products was super-fast. The units arrive fully operational with an inoffensive series of beeps when the corresponding button on the Locator unit is pressed, just attach the keychain units to the item you're trying not to lose (red one went on my keys, blue went on my husband's keys), keep the Locator Remote some place you're confident you wouldn't lose (in a zippered pocket in my purse), and you're ready to go.I first tested this out "on the field" when trying to locate my husband after losing him at a Pumpkin Patch. There were kids around and rides being operated, so definitely a lot of outdoor noise. I couldn't hear the beeping at all and the unit was in his front jeans pocket along with his keys. Once I did locate him using my good ol' fashioned eyeballs, I pushed the unit again and could only hear it when I was about 2 feet away from him. I'd say the volume (which is not adjustable) is approximately the medium/standard ring tone volume of a cell phone.I next tested the units a few days ago, which is almost exactly 4 weeks from the day the item arrived. I was surprised to see that only one unit beeped back and the other unit had become unresponsive. The set comes with extra batteries, so I'll replace those myself. Might be faulty battery in the one unit since the unit that works is still as loud as it was the first day.I think where most people misplace their keys, which is around their house/work/car, are quiet enough for the beeping to be heard. As long as you're not trying to look for someone at a theme park (I tried to attach one to my toddler at Disneyland, but she wasn't wearing anything with a belt loop), I think the unit would work fine. I wouldn't want it ear-piercingly loud, anyway, if I were trying to locate my keys (or family member) in a crowded area.

Helps Distracted People Like Me
I bought this because I find I am setting down my stuff rather mindlessly and when I need my keys (particularly) they are not readily visible as I might have left them on the kitchen counter after bringing in groceries or in the bathroom when I stopped the moment I got home.In the mornings when I need to "get going" I have wasted 10 or more minutes looking for my keys or purse. I know if I just trained myself to put them in the same place all the time, I wouldn't need this item but so far the first solution hasn't always worked. As I try to relearn, I now have this backup system to help me locate both.It is very simple: you just walk around the house pressing the FINDER until it beeps. The FINDER doesn't leave it's spot because I don't need to carry it with me. It comes with the batteries ready to go and spare ones at that. I have placed one RECEIVER on my key ring and one in my purse. The only time it didn't work was when I left my purse in my locked car in the garage--the FINDER's range didn't go that far. Not that I expected it to find my purse in the garage I still have to say the only drawback I can see (and why I didn't give it 5 stars) is that the range isn't quite what I'd like. Not a huge deal but you have to walk room to room pressing the FINDER until you hear the beep. But that minor condition doesn't stop me from recommending it. I bought one for my sister, so I'll see what she thinks after I give it to her next month.

Good if modify main pad to protect it's 2 buttons
I bought this on Amazon 5 years ago, I still like it. But this rectangular pad's 2 small buttons stick up higher than that pad which makes those buttons accidently pushed/held down during storage, wearing out it's battery. The designer therefore shoulda made those 2 buttons recessed lower than the surface of the pad, & shoulda installed high barriers on each side of those buttons, to prevent those buttons from pushing down in storage. I solved it via I glued 2 high plastic barriers (using 2part epoxy) adjacent to each side of that row of 2 buttons. Also, dont try to go 2 years without changing batteries on the key pads, I forgot to check batteries for 2 years until I lost my keychain, when I pushed the buttons to look for my lost keychain, my keychain pad's battery was dead - which made this useless! So replace the batteries sooner than 2 years.

Very good product.
This is a very good product and we put it to good use right away. I gave it to my husband for Christmas. The next night we were at a restaurant and my husband went out to warm up and clean the snow off my car while I settled the bill. When I came out I had my keys in my purse and since my car has a recognition system, it recognized that keys were inside the running vehicle once I got in. What we didn't know is that my husband dropped his keys in the grassy snow behind the car. When we got to our next destination we realized that he had no keys and it was then we knew that it was because of my keys that we were able to travel. Later that night, after several inches of snow had fallen, we returned home and retrieved the Click n' Dig and went back to the restaurant to our parking spot. Using the devise we were able to dig in the snow in the exact location and find my husbands keys. What a life saver this little product was. The only down side to the product is that the beeping is not nearly loud enough. I purchased it for my husband who has hearing difficulties (he often doesn't hear his keys hit the ground when he drops them) so it would be a better product if it were louder. Had it been left to him, he would not have found his keys as I was the one who could hear the faint beeping under the 4 inches of snow.
