Cheap wifi card that probably works without fuss.
I bought this to improve the WiFi connection on my Linux desktop PC. I plugged it in, rebooted and Linux recognized it. But, it will not connect to my broadband router. If I switch my phone on as a hotspot it recognizes it and gives excellent connection speeds. But it won't see my router for some reason. I can't fault the card since it works perfectly with the hotspot, but the router works with my old card and other devices so it seems OK too. Its a mystery. Because of the excellent results with hotspots I'll give the card a 4 star review, only losing one because of my router connection woes. I plan on trying it in my old Windows PC which might change my views.

Decent for the price
So, the whole wifi connectivity via pc thing is quite vast. From tiny cheap usb dongles to large, multi aerial pcie cards (inside the pc)I previohsly had a dongle which was very basic and connected via a 2.4ghz connection only. I got 8mb/s with 1/2 bars of signal. I then switched that for a 2.4ghz asus pci wifi adapter for £20 which was better. Signal went up to 3 bars and download speeds topped out at an average of 60mb/s. I then stumbled across this product on amazon which boasts 2.4ghz and 5ghz. 2.4ghz is slower but generally finds signal from a greater distance which leads to less disconnecting. 5ghz searches a shorter wifi range but has better speeds. I connected to 2.4ghz on this device, like the previous 2, and topped out at 100mb/s with 4/5 bars signal. I then connected to 5ghz and i was blown away. A solid 190mb/s with the same 4/5 bar signal strength and my daughter played some online games for around 4 hours with her friends and it was absolutely solid. An update took 26 hours on the usb dongle mentioned 1st, with this, it had completed the download in literally 3 minutes. For those in a pickle and not very clued up on this kind of thing, please do not be put off! Search youtube tutorials on how to install a wifi adapter card into your pc and it will all be clear and simple after a few minutes. My testing method was the same everytime. The router is exactly 22ft from the pc and in adjacent rooms with both doors shut. I maxed out at 190mb/s with this device which is perfect for me, however connected directly to the router via ethernet cable to my pc, i get the full 500mb/s that i am paying for. So this explains the reason for 3 stars on the wifi part of the review. I DO NOT have anything bad to say about the connection as its seamless and solid. If you do wish to utilise more of your bandwidth via a wifi adapter, then i suggest paying a little more and doing some research as you can get a lot worse than this product for more money!Hope this helps someone :)

5ghz WiFi card, works straight out of box
Easy to install, works after restart with no CD needed on win10. Getting full 200+mbps over 5ghz WiFi now rather than the 40mbps cap I was getting from my previous 2.4ghz card

Looks good but parts were missing
Opened the box to a nice looking bit of kit.. Only to find I've been given two low profile brackets so it's useless on my thicker tower.. Returned the same day for a refund
