eTravelbike Electric Bicycle

I promised myself that after I rode it for 1000 miles, I would write a review of this e-travelbike TX36. I now have gone at some 1300 miles, primarily commuting from home to work, about 5 miles each way. It’s been a delight. I peddle continuously, which makes me feel righteous, but thanks to the motor the bike makes hilly Atlanta seem as flat as Amsterdam, if not as bike friendly. I ride it the heat and humidity downpours of the Atlanta summer and the shallow depth of the Atlanta winter (lows of 25F). I arrive at work and at home without much of a sweat (or frostbite) and thanks to the Atlanta traffic, I get both places faster than I do in my car.I do have a couple of suggestions to people interested in buying this bike.1- You will have little trouble assembling it, even with the poorly written instructions that come with it. But once you do assemble it, take a bike store with competent technicians and don’t do as I did and fool yourself about your ability to repair and tune bicycles. It needn’t be a store that sells E-bikes, which curiously are hard to find. Thanks to my incompetence as a bike technician, the original rear wheel and motor self-destructed because of loose spokes and an improperly adjusted rear brake. I had a local bike store, Intown Bicycles in Midtown Atlanta, put on the new wheel, tune the bike and adjust the brakes. That was about 600 miles ago and it’s been a joy to ride ever since. But unlike my peddle-only bike, you have to periodically check it to be sure all the screws are tight. The potholes and other failings of the Atlanta roads tend to shake things up.2- It is not easy get parts from the purveyor of this bike, EPIZON, like the wheel I needed to have replaced. While they had the wheel in stock, they don’t have a parts list for the TX36 E-bike on line and their technical help and parts departments does not accept phone calls. All communication with them has to be by e-mail. They respond to e-mail messages by the next day, but a conversation with a person would have helped.
