Good writing, excellent story.
This was an excellent locked room mystery. I learned several bits of history reading it, including how the current calendar was modified, causing today's calendar to be eleven days shorter than the earlier one. Fast paced. Interesting characters.

Good Cosy Mystery
So many modern murders are about psychopaths and organised crime. Not things I can really relate to. The characters in this are real and relatable and the story was enfaging. I liked that it had a happy ending!

Brilliant.
A great story to keep the mind occupied and not thinking about whatever problems there are.

good read
A good read, good story and mystery - loved it! The main character is sometimes a bit too naive, but that is (in my opinion) not uncommon for private detectives...

Quiet, Unassuming, Enjoyable
This was a quiet, unassuming little mystery. Part of the reason I enjoyed it was the exotic (to me) Cambridge University setting. Mostly, though, it was lead character Imogen Quy. As a nurse, she doesn’t fit anywhere in the university pecking order, and with friends and associates high and low she can slide in and out of formal and informal social settings, a handy trait for an amateur detective. While self-effacing, she is not easily rocked by either condescension or effusiveness; her sensitivity and kindness prompt her to recognize and reach out to those who are troubled. There were flaws in the book, like a coincidental sequence of events leading to a very bloody crime scene that seemed a bit contrived to me; and I (figuratively) tapped my fingers impatiently waiting for Imogen to connect a clue – which seemed obvious to me – to a particular wrongdoer. I also had difficulty keeping the female students straight and I was too often pulled out of the story by annoying typos. In spite of all that, I am looking forward to Imogen’s next adventure.
