Great writing!
I have to give this book 5 stars because the excellent writing demands it. Having said that; I found myself feeling very sorry for the wronged wife, and I couldn't get into liking the hero and heroine of the story because of this. But, I was warned on the synopsis, so, that was on me. Excellent author; I will check out her other books that don't involve cheating. Lol!

I loved it and I don’t care who knows it
Yess I love it when a cheating couple gets their happy ending. Pacing was good for the most part although I feel like we could’ve done without 30-40 pages so it didn’t feel repetitive. I like how the mmc and fmc didn’t speak badly about the wife in a misogynistic way which is usually the case with forbidden/cheating trope books. Overall really nice read nothing ground breaking but still a good book

Brilliant!
Earlier on this year I discovered RC Martin when she was recommended to me by a friend! Her book Guarded was amazing and I knew I had found an author who I would add to my one click list.Heartless was passionate, sexy, sultry and romantic! I loved the characters and their personalities, they were all written so well! I loved the theme of the story itself, the forbidden, lust, love and stolen moments.Recommend to anyone in the mood for a suspenseful romantic story of forbidden love!!

Good writing
Whilst this book was well written, it was difficult to align to Blaine. She entered into relationship with a married man, if Michael was unhappy, divorce then move on. His wife was treated with no respect, it was all about Blaine and her feelings. Everyone justified the affair very sad to see.

Very Good
It's not necessarily easy to write a story like this where there is no particular villain. Sometimes it's just a case of circumstances. This is that story.

awesome read.
5 freakin plus stars... awesome read..I am blown away by the absolute brilliance of this book. I was hooked from the beginning and I’m so glad to add RC Martin to my list of new talent that I have discovered. The taboo subject of a forbidden affair is not at all what it seems. You fall in love with the hero and heroine in this story. They were both going on about their journey until life happens to bring them in unforeseen circumstances but the slow burn that you get is the best high. This story in sinful, raw and the feels and frills are just perfect. You will be challenged to hate the hero in this story but once you unfold his layers, what lies at heart is priceless and beautiful. The heroine on the surface seems so weak but don’t let that fool you one bit.I highly recommend this book to everyone. It will challenge and entertain you at every sinful desire. Brilliant work RC Martin.

One of my FAVORITE books of 2017!
I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.This is one of the most difficult reviews that I ever had to write. Because this story did so much to me, it was such an emotional story and I really want to do it justice with my review. But I must confess that I don’t know if I can do that. I don’t know if I can find the right words to honor it. But I will try my best and hope that I can express my emotions into words.First, I will start by telling you that ‘Heartless’ is one of my FAVORITE books of 2017!!Secondly…. YES, in this book the main male character does cheat on his wife. But I do hope that some readers will still give this book a try because the story is also about love. The night that governor Michael Cavanaugh and Blaine Foster met, they didn’t know that that was the beginning of something special, that their lives would never be the same again. Both are in a relationship when they meet. Michael has been married to his high school sweetheart Veronica for 15 years and Blaine is together with her boyfriend Mateo. Blaine loves Mateo but lately (since he moved in with her) they are having a lot of arguments. Their arguments leave Blaine always sad and frustrated. After another argument, Blaine meets a new customer at her workplace, a customer who tries to get her to smile, something that Blaine is surprised and grateful for.Michael will never be able to explain why it bothered him so much to see Blaine so distressed that night. Why he wanted to see her smile but he did and at the end of that night Michael got his smile from Blaine. The more they get to know each other, the more both are realizing that something is going on here. But what? Can they give in to it? What about their partners? Is it just lust or is it love?At one point Michael will have to decide if this chemistry between Blaine and him is worth it all. His marriage, his carrier. Is it just the forbidden that makes him feel so much? Or is he falling in love with Blaine?First, I want to say that like so many other romance readers I don’t like cheating in my books. But after reading and loving R.C. Martin other books, I decided to trust this writer with the story and I’m really happy that I did. Because yes, the book is about ‘cheating’ but it’s also about ‘love’. And sadly the circumstances and the timing of falling in love with someone can be terrible wrong but that doesn’t make the feeling any less true.‘Heartless’ is a story about emotional and intelligent conflict, about guilt, about saying goodbye to a future that you once dreamt of but also about passion, desire and love. It’s about being human, about making faults, about hurting people, about having to accept that maybe along the way you changed into another person with different desires and longings. The story is told from both POV’s which I really appreciated because it gave the story more depth. I liked both characters very much. Michael is an ambitious, dominant man and Blaine is a young woman with a kind heart. The sex scenes were hot and naughty. I love the fact that we got an epilogue at the end. I really needed that.‘Heartless’ was definitely a story that I didn’t expect from this writer but sometimes those are the best surprises!

My most read book of all time.
Words cannot describe how much I love this book. I come back to it at least twice a year and fall in love with Blaine and Michael all over again. They were the true definition of soulmates and how R.C had me rooting so so hard for these characters while they were doing something so bad is a testament to her great writing. I'll be back in a few months for sure.

Great read!! SPOILER ALERT!!! DO NOT READ OF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK YET
This author is also new to me, but from the telling of the story with this book..I've got to read more of her books. I will say that I've never met a woman like Blaine before, one that is totally patient, transparent, and not demanding at all in the situation she found herself in. I've also never met anyone like Michael who was on the fence at first about the relationship, but one he made a decision, he followed through with it through and through. The epidimy of how a man should be. The two characters were perfect for one another. She wasn't pushy at all- which in a situation unique like theirs I find it hard to believe, but I still thoroughly enjoyed reading into both characters and getting to know them. They were completely sympatico with one another.I would have liked the story to be a little more dramatic, like maybe Mateo could have shown up and fought for her more creating a little more drama on her part so she wasn't always waiting for a phone call, text, or visit from her mister. I also would've liked if she had been pursued by another politician maybe make it a little more angsty on his part cuz he always seemed so well put together, I just wanted him a little more dirtier and not in the sexual sense. I thought the sex scenes were perfect, not too outlandish and lots believable and left room for more to be desired. I was waiting for them to get caught also especially when they stowed away in the cabin for a weekend and he let Veronica know where he would be. I was hoping she would do a pop in visit of some sort. Or that someone would take a picture while they were at the restaurant seated next to the live band that was playing. Was wanting just a little more of a dramatic finish. Yes the book was long, maybe could've been broken up so that once the truth finally came out the author wasn't in a total rush to complete the book. Would have loved to read the dialog between Blaine, Michael, and her dad when he asked for his blessing on their marriage. Would have loved to have heard the argument between Michael and his parents.. but it still doesn't detract from a good story and a good book. I thoroughly enjoyed the build up between the characters. Thank you for not going into to detail as to how they were having sex with their partners before the two of them got it on. It so helped with the sexual build up between them and added extra spice. Very good read, will have to check out other books under this author's name.

It might be because this was just what I needed...
But this checked all the boxes.Written well, vivid relatable characters that come alive on the pages, lots of angst, a little bit of suspense, and a compelling plot.I loved how their affair walked the line between something that couldn't be avoided, while managing to NOT vilify or make their significant others into total cartoon character-esque stereotypes. This is also the rare book that has someone that's Christian but ISN'T super obnoxious about it (which almost never happens in the literary world). LolTo make a long story short - this was definitely good enough to justify neglecting work for.The only weak points (for me) were the last few pages almost being Disney movie style happy. And I kept waiting for the scandal to go public... And waiting. And waiting some more.In real life it would've happened and it only would've been a matter of time. Here not so much.Also-I don't agree with dragging family and friends into a marriage-but maybe that's just me because needing validation has never been my jam.But otherwise - I really enjoyed this.If you want a well written erotic distraction with lots of drama - snatch this up and give it a go. You won't be disappointed.
