GevaliaTraditional Light Roast Ground Coffee (12 oz Bags (Pack of 6))

I actually subscribed directly to Gevalia back in about 1990 when they offered a free coffeemaker if you bought two bags of coffee - cancel subscription at any time. Planned to cancel immediately but coffee was so good, I kept the subscription. This is long before Gevalia appeared in stores in the yellow bag. Used to come in a red box.It is just the perfect balance of taste, body, and acidity. After Gevalia became available in stores, they started to have shortages in their subscription program. Found some in some stores, but they typically had "house blend" and "Colombian" which are not nearly as good as their "Traditional Roast" That they've been making since the 1850's. Then Safeway had it and I'd get it there. More recently our local Safeway stopped carrying it and I found it at Amazon. So I have subscription for a box of 6 sent to me every 5-weeks and I'm actually paying the lowest price I've ever paid because of this Amazon Subscription price on it. I can't recommend it enough. ***WARNING*** once you try this Gevalia Traditional Roast, nothing else will do...

I love gevalia: no bitter aftertaste, no tummy upset just great smooth taste!

Very nice coffee, smooth and rich with a slightly nutty flavor. The value of buying 6 packages at once is incomparable - we go through about 12 of these 12 oz packages per month now that we are working from home. No issues with the coffee going stale as they are very well sealed packages and they don't sit for more than 2 or 3 weeks. Fantastic value, wonderful coffee!UPDATE: In March of 2022 I bought my last good deal on this coffee. The price has gone up enough that now the 10 oz package is almost $10 - nearly DOUBLE what I used to pay for it. Moving on to more reasonably priced coffee.

Gevalia traditional mild roast is the only light roast coffee on the market that I know of. Every other so-called mild or light roast I’ve tried is actually medium to dark roast. If you’re sick of the charcoal flavor that is every other brand of coffee because they’re all dark roast, this is the one for you.Dark roast (French roast) coffee is a scam. 50 years ago there was no such thing as dark roast. Dark roast destroys the character of the bean, it cooks off most of the essential oil’s that form the flavor of a coffee bean, ruining a really good bean. The cheapest bean in the world tastes the same as the best after it’s been dark roasted. If a roasted coffee bean is anything other than Lt brown it’s burnt. You’ll notice as soon as you open a bag of Gevalia mild roast the color and smell of pure coffee. This is hands-down the best tasting coffee you can get that is available in the open market. It was made for kings and it is literally fit for kings.

Overall, this coffee can produce a great tasting cup of coffee. However, as other reviews have noted, this coffee is ground quite fine, which can cause some problems depending on how you brew it. Some reviewers said they had some grounds in their cup, while my problem is that my Ninja coffee machine frequently brews a very weak pot with this coffee. Occasionally the brew would come out right, but many times the brew was weak and overly translucent. (Using the Ninja machine's rich brew function improved the likelihood of getting a proper strength but even this still produced a weak brew quite frequently.) I wish either this coffee was ground a bit coarser or that it was offered in whole bean so we could grind it ourselves because it really is good coffee.

This is the best coffee you can find on Amazon! I’m quite picky with coffee and IMO this in on par with premium roasts from Blue Bottle, Stumpton, Chameleon and Brooklyn Roasting Company. Those are my other favorites but this comes at just a half or a third of the cost. I use this for pour overs and a little goes a long way. Tip: the price for a 6 pack fluctuates a bit, get an extra order when it’s down at $28 : )

My wife and I are not into trendy roasts but prefer to stick with Gevalia Mild. Kind of the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" school. This is a smooth, light, easy to drink, never bitter or overly acidic, caramel notes, good aroma and still works when brewed extra strong. We have tried dark and medium roasts but they just don't make a good morning cupper, or afternoon brew. We used to buy whole bean but the ground is easier to find and we subscribe to make sure we are getting it from Amazon and not a third party seller. Did that one time and it was a huge mistake.
