Perfect time and stocking filler for ALL ages
Was looking for a 'non serious passing the time' Christmas stocking filler and this was it ...Purchased this book for my 21 year old son who always loved dragons when he was younger (probably still does) along with a packet of colouring pencils and he loved it especially at those times when the grandparents visited and we all watched old people stuff on the TV :)

Nice book
Nice colouring book, bought for my 8 year old son as he loves colouring.Would only say that I think there should be a coloured guide for each picture so you've got a idea on how best to colour.

Dover Coloring books. Beautiful books for advanced coloring.
I LOVE this book! I love dragons. I love accurate dragon lore. I draw dragons quite frequently and found these dragons to be drawn exceptionally well, from anatomical dimensions to detailing of scales and claws. Even other elements of the pictures (humans and other animals) are rendered with accuracy kept in mind. Although I do feel the humans appear to lack the adept skill of artistry applied to the dragons themselves, but all artists have their strengths and weaknesses.I honestly don't know what the lone one star reviewer means when he says these images are not detailed enough and are uninteresting. I find every single image interesting and highly detailed, all the way down to the accurate explanation of whatever dragon or myth each image is meant to portray. Some reviewers have commented on the line work. That "lines are too close together" or "not neat/clean enough". I personally don't find this to truly be the case. The lines are a bit "thick" in comparison to some of the line work in other Dover coloring books (keep in mind there are various artists works published through Dover so the artistry of each book will vary by artist). The thicker lines give the illusion that they are too close together. And again, personally, I think anyone who makes this a complaint simply doesn't have the patience (and maybe skill) to render these images into the detailed works of colorful art they are obviously meant to be.As far as some reviewers claims that there are "suggestive images" take note that as some others have stated I did not find a single image in this book to be sexually suggestive in any manner. I saw only two pictures including women. Neither are "scantily clad" or "barely wearing anything". In both pictures the women are wearing ankle length dresses with your standard "medieval damsel" neckline. So, I guess if you're of a particular religion in which a woman must cover all parts of her body (i.e. Amish or Muslim) then these images would indeed be suggestive. Lol.But, there is not a single image in these books that your average 8-10 year old child cannot look at and enjoy. That being said, some of the captions speak about actual mythologies involving dragons, and do so accurately.Excerpt from page 17, "Marina, a Russian witch, kept a dragon and serpents in her palace as companions. She enjoyed seducing young warriors and changing them into creatures such as pigs or oxen. In the end, a clever knight tricked Marina into being alone with him, whereupon he beheaded her."So, if you purchase this for your child and do not find it age appropriate for them to learn accurate dragon lore I would recommend a dose of white out per page you do not want read. But then, what is the point in such a beautifully rendered book if you will alter it from its original state to something less interactive and fun? All in all, don't buy this book expecting it to be at a 5 year old's level of coloring skill. Dover caters to the experienced and adult coloring fanatics.

Joli
certes les commentaires des dessins sont en Anglais mais cela n'empêche pas d'apprécier les beaux dessins, tous les types de dragons sont représentés (imaginaires ou non).un livre très sympathique qui vous fais colorier ces bêtes mythiques

Dover and Amazon Come Through Again - Love This Dragon Coloring Book ...
Dover's "Dragons Coloring Book" is an extremely nice coloring book. It can be an excellent choice for younger “artists”; the pictures are not so complex or detailed that little ones will have difficulty coloring them. However, Christy Shaffer’s drawings are not so simplistic that the child will become easily bored. Printed on good quality paper, the pages are not flimsy, and markers will not bleed through - unless a child holds the marker in one place for a long period of time. This coloring book contains nicely drawn pictures of dragons or dragons and knights on every page. That has made Dover's "Dragons Coloring Book" a hit with our grandson who is now obsessed with dragons and medieval knights. Like other Dover Coloring Books I have purchased, "Dragons Coloring Book" has text at the bottom of the page that provides information about the drawing on that page..Thank goodness for Amazon and Dover Coloring Books! It is almost impossible to find coloring books in the stores that are not devoted to princess-themed or movier spin-offs. It is even more difficult to find coloring books for that depict dragons and that are not geared toward the current interest adults have in coloring books. If you are looking for some nice quality coloring books, I urge you to look at Dover's "Dragons Coloring Book" and other Dover themed coloring books available on Amazon.
