If you're pulling one of the cartridges that this tool is used for be patient and don't be afraid to use a little force. I've had these stick even though the retainer was in my hand and it should have slid out. Good luck.

Q: I can use a locking wrench on this right, it won't bend/break?

Hi: First of all the tool from is like a tube with a slot full length. I would be very cautious using any force that would collapse the tube from the side. The valve assembly really should not be that tight! I do not think there should be any corossion between the plastic and brass of the faucet base. When I used the wrench I only tightened by hand. Instead of a locking wrench I would consider a hole drilled through end at a right angle to the split and use a 1/4 in bolt or rod.
