Fun!
Got it for paddle boarding, so much fun when there is enough wind. Rated it 5 because though it isn't perfect, definitely worth the price. Hard to figure out how to get in the storage bag at first, but once you figure it out and practice a few times you are good to go.

It's Fun with enough wind
I bought this sail (orange color) and mounted it to my $300 10' Pelican Sentinel (orange) sit-on top Kayak. I live on some water and have two of these kayaks and two hard paddle boards hanging on a rack on the side of my shed. I am always paddling around. I wanted to try one of these little kayak sails.Today a storm front came through our area. The wind was strong enough to blow some light chairs around my deck and to make 2.5 foot tall white cap waves on our lake. I rushed out; rigged the sail up to my kayak for the first time, muscled the kayak down to the waterfront, paddled straight out into the wind, turned around and unfurled the sail. Yeah I few across the lake right back to my beach. I paddled out twice and sailed back really fast with a full sail twice. On the third trip out the wind died down quite a bit, it was still there but not nearly as strong. On the way back I had to use the sail lines to hold the sail up nd out of the water and the kayak slowly drifted back to the beach, this was definitely more work and less exciting than my first two trips.I had an easy time rigging this to my kayak because I already had a few custom D Rings mounted around the front of my kayak, I just use a drill and sheet rock anchors to create anchor points for the D Rings, so far they work great.I have an understanding of knots and what I wanted it to look like, I had to rerun the paracord that tightens and loosens the sail and I had to rearrange some of the straps and clips to work the way I wantedIt works for me because I have a set of swim trunks always hanging on my deck and I'm right on the water, if the wind picks up at my house I can be out there sailing in just a few minutes. The stitching is single but all intact, nothing ripped and I was in very strong winds. It is very lightweight nylon and plastic for the window.I use the paddle as a rudder to keep me going down wind.It is only going to work down wind.IMO it is only worth using in winds so strong most people wouldn't want to be out.I'm glad I bought it. It adds to my enjoyment of my kayak. Don't expect to sail across the Atlantic with it or anything.

Flawed, dangerous design that breaks after six refolds
So, I thought this sail might be fun for my inflatable paddleboard when I'm trying to return to a launch point that is downwind from the first portion of my paddle.I bought this for that purpose. Initially I was happy with the compact, flat form factor that slid under the deck cords on my board.Pulling it out, I was taken aback how quickly it flipped open. All of the cords, clips, straps, and other add-ons were too confusing to intuitively figure out on the water. The real fun begins when one tries refolding this to fit in the carrying case. The first fold to two smaller rings isn't bad. Eventually you will find the point where the rods easily twist and fold into this configuration. However, this first fold doesn't reduce the diameter of the rings to something that will fit in the case. Not even close. This is where the trouble begins.Eventually, you realize you need to make a second fold to create four small rings that will fit in the carry case. Be careful doing this, because even if you are paying attention you may fold at an angle that causes the sail to abruptly flip open to its maximum size in your face. Also, there is no point when trying to fold down to four small rings where the two medium-sized rings easily give. You will really need to force the second fold to the point where it feels as though the rings will break. Even if you do, the four small rings will not lay flat in the carrying case. After performing this refold five or six times to get the sail back in the carrying case today, one of the rods snapped. Thankfully, it was slow enough that I was not in danger.A better design for this product would have pockets around the circumference of the sail where one slides the rods in, attaching the next rod as the previous one is all the way in the pocket, then having some kind of closing mechanism once the final rod is installed. No goofy folding, no sail that won't lay flat in the carry case, etc.

It melted in the heat of my shed.
Fun accessory. However I made the mistake of storing it in my shed and the clear plastic melted.

Fun and educational for young children!
My husband has taken up fishing as his hobby of choice, so I got him/us this sail. He keeps wanting me and the kids to come along when he goes fishing so I figured this can help us navigate to a good spot when we're on a rowboat, and it's something for the kids to do. It folds up flat and has a shoulder carry strap, making it easy to travel with. It's actually pretty fun on the water using this with my two little kids (3 and 6), and teaching my kids some scientific concepts! Works really well if you're out on a windy day, and we live in a pretty windy area-- great for flying kites and for sailing. Lastly, I love the blue color, it is bright and happy and doesn't take away from the beauty of nature.

When attached to your boat right this crushes it.
We used this in a canoe as pictured above and it was perfect. When the wind came from any usable direction we just flipped it up and it would fill with wind and push us along. When the wind would die down it would simply lay atop of all our gear. Easy to set up with provided hooks. You may need a little extra line for the rear tie down, we used our canoe tie downs for that and it provided the flexibility to rig it right where we needed it.

Kayak sail
The only instructions for use are online. The lines for connecting to the kayak are loose and slip easily. We purchased a few metal clips to go onto the cords for anchoring to the kayak. Hopefully our next attempt at using the sails will yield a better result.

The plastic part made to see out of melted together in 75 degree weather on the first use.
The plastic part of the sail made for what I assume to be a viewing “window” literally melted together in 75 degree weather on the first use. Now the sail cannot be unfolded again and has been rendered useless. Better material needs to be used.
