Paying the Land

This is good but the worst book from the great joe sacco
I have read many joe sacco great graphic novels like Palestine, safe area gorazde(the best), footnotes in gaza. My expectations were high when I bought this book, and tbh those expectations were crushed by bad paneling alone. Sacco tried something new by over using borderless asymmetric panels. Simply 50% of the pages have Border less panels which becomes annoying so quickly and makes the book boring despite great art.

My first Joe Sacco graphic novel!
The hardback edition cover was slightly dirty and even had a sticky gooey substance stuck to it. I just wish the sellers would take extra care with such things in the future. The content itself looks exactly what I was hoping it to be. The monochromatic artwork and Native American subject matter was what drew me to buy it. Can’t wait to get started.

Joe Sacco - he just picks the subjects that I am interested in!
I have recently discovered Joe and then have promptly looked for all of his books.Paying the Land addresses the tricky subject of the balance between the people who always owned the land, natural resources that some feel need to be exploited and national / regional governments with their various agendas. In this case, it is the Dene people of NW Canada, but it could also be many others around the globe - the dialogue is pretty much always the same.Great drawing and with, as far as I can tell, a balanced perspective. Really liked it and am looking forward to the next one I read - Safe Area Gorazde, Palestine etc. Good luck to the Dene people!

Joe Sacco raramente decepciona

Vintage Joe Sacco
Not as hard hitting as some of his works but informative none the less.
