Topping D30 Pro 4*CS43198 Chip DAC Hi-Res Audio DSD256 PCM384kHz XMOS XU208 Preamplifier RCA XLR USB Optical Decoder (Black)

This is a story of building a "stack" backward.So, I have about...oh...5 "stacks" (SMSL, Topping, FiiO, iFi) and a couple of "all in ones" ranging in price from 300.00 - 900.00 (FiiO K9 Pro) and a few portable devices. I have dropped my fair share of money on stacks over the years.Headphones and IEMs, more than I care to admit to. Let's just call it "a lot". They range in price from 30.00 - 800.00.I was looking to upgrade my "mid-range, daily driver stack" from a Topping D50s paired with an iFi ZEN CAN Balanced desktop amp. Sounded really good for the last 2.5 years. Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz, and Amazon HD all sounded good. Nothing to write home about but more than adequate for my purposes but that stack was getting a little long in the tooth.I have been reading about all these new DACs/AMPs with new chipsets and spent a ton of time trying to put together a solid mid-range stack. I have the K9-Pro so my high-end is covered (that unit is just...drool.)I thought replacing the AMP would be adequate and I pulled the trigger on the A30 Pro. I plugged it into my D50s and was like "this is dark and a bit muddy". Seriously, I was not impressed. I then ran it from the K9-Pro (balanced) and thought "that's more like it". It really opened up. The sound stage was WAY better and it sounded very good to me.However, that did not solve my problem. I was replacing my daily driver stack and read a TON of reviews on different DACs and almost went with the SMSL SU9-Pro (I have the SU-9 on my desktop machine and like it a lot). I kept reading reviews and watching videos and thought "ya know, this really is a set...the A90 and D30 Pro" so I pulled the trigger on the D30 Pro.I just got it in and hooked it up to the A90 (balanced). BINGO! As I thought, this is really a set with the sound balanced across the two units. The DAC and AMP are meant to be together.Music: Lepplin (duh), Classic Rock, Jazz, Blues (Kingfish), and a bit of Country.Bass - Nice. Not bloated. Rock, Jazz, and a little Country (Cory Marks) sound very good. No bleed from the lower end into the mids that my ears can detect. Maybe on some of the lower-end files I have (192-256 VBA).Mids - Better than I thought it would be. Not to forward nor out of step with the rest of the sound stage. I like it.Treble - Tamed but present when needed. Nothing piercing. Nothing that has me pulling my headphones off and going "OUCH!". Solid. I am not a treble head so for me, it's nice and smooth. I like it.Sound Stage: First off, does it sound better than the D50s? Oh yes. Yes, it does. However, it's not like I went "OMG! This is the greatest ever!" The best way I can describe it is the sound stage opened 30 degrees on each side. It's wider for sure. The instruments are well placed. Each has its own space but is not enhanced like some DAC/AMP combos. This is a "purest" DAC/AMP setup. No Bluetooth. No MQA. Just music that sounds very good when combined as a stack. I should also say, if your source file is bad, then it will sound bad. This unit does a really good job of just playing what the source sounds like. Good or bad.Bottom line: I like it. It is what I was looking for. The sound stage, bass, mids, and treble are all in line. A very solid and well-done stack for the price point. Again, PRICE POINT! This is not a $1000.00 stack that is designed to compete with the A90 Discrete or the D90SE stack. That's a $1200.00 stack. I believe topping did a really good job with the stack and I like it for what I bought it for. This is a solid day-to-day, streaming, local music listening stack that sounds really good. Throw some XLR to XLR to connect them and I think most folks will be pleased.Nice job Topping. See you in three years when I upgrade.

I bought it and immediately heard an improvement over my old topping e30, but sound started coming on and off from every source. Returned it immediately.

I am using the D30 Pro in DAC mode and running it through a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 using the balanced XLR connection.Speakers are nothing too special, Presonus Eris and Eris sub.I swapped out the Topping D10 Balanced I was previously using.The audio source is still an iPad over USB playing Apple Music in lossless quality.The D30 Pro is a night and day difference to the D10.- The sound stage is wider- High frequencies are brighter, but not overblown- Lows are tighter, but remain balancedThe definition around cymbals and hi hats on drum parts is pleasant. The same can be said for the clarity of vocals.I am using the default filter setting and haven’t found any reason to change it.Overall it’s an honest listening experience that lends greater overall clarity to the music both acoustic and electronic.

Well engineered product, excellent sound without any noise or clicks during mode switching, worked right out of the box on my Mac mini. I use it with two inputs, to play iTunes lossless tracks via USB and also with TV attached via optical link. Auto-standby mode is nice!

今回ドライバをVersion 5.30 から Version 5.45 に変更したところ、これまでボーカルが全面に浮かび上がってくる様な鳴り方が特徴的だったのが、ボーカルが後退し各楽器がホログラムの様に浮かび上がって立体的な音場に成りました。またボーカルの方もより細かな表現が出来るようになったと同時に各楽器にも力強さが加わり非常に好ましく成りました。 まだVersion 5.45 の方は日本のサイトでは公表してませんが、topping-download で検索すると出てきますのでクリックするとダウンロードが開きます。ただしバージョンアップは自己責任ですのでご参考に。
