Unique and fun hard to get out of tray

A little challenging to fill at first but "practice makes perfect".

I have wanted one of these forever. However, it's not been as great as they made it sound. There's no guide for how full to make the trays so that you get perfect spheres. There is a cute little funnel to fill the trays but, if the tray is sealed properly, the funnel creates an airtight seal and makes it difficult to fill the trays. Also, the plastic is very rigid so the spheres are not easy to remove. First world problems that make me regret my purchase....

So first off when I say not what I expected it’s my fault and not the product. I thought they would be larger. They are small and you use most of them in one drink. The other problem I have is they are somewhat difficult to get out. You sometimes break them while getting them out. I still like them and use them.

I was excited to have huge ice balls for my coffee. The plastic is so stiff, it doesn’t go back together very well and water goes everywhere. Refilling with the tiny funnel is tedious and takes too long. It’s very difficult to get ice out without banging on the counter which breaks it. I tried running under hot water, which works but it shouldn’t be necessary. I ended up buying a flexible silicon tray at Safeway. Best purchase!

This is a great ice ball mold. If you don't over fill it it doesn't leak, the balls come out of the mold ok (maybe a stubborn one here or there but no problem) and they are a good size. Many mold are larger, to large in my opinion. If I want more ice I add more than one ball and I don't have a problem with the balls not fitting into my glasses. In the interest of full discloser, I do have a five stage, RO filter in my kitchen so the water I use is pure.

Long to fill, Very hard to take out, Makes a mess. I bought this because i have other silicon ones that take longer to fill. It is not better. Besides filling, to remove them is so hard! If you have the finger strength to pull the plastic apart open, you then have a few minutes while they are still very frozen to use tongs it came with to pull them out. Before they are too frozen and after that once they start to melt it creates a suction. You cannot turn/twist the tray like a traditional ice cube tray. It also makes a huge mess. I definitely do not recommend them. I barely even use them now and they are just a wasted purchase.

I have tried several round ice cube forms and this one seals great and puts out consistently sized ice. It is more sturdy than the silicone ones but still releases the ice easily
