It would not work for a dryer. Anything that creates heat through resistive coils or rods it's not made for that. Bill

Q: Will this work with 220 plug in charger for an electric car?

Yes, it works with my 16a lvl2 charger. My Chrysler Pacifica's on board timer is flaky AF. This keeps me from charging at peak rates but actually starting when it's supposed to. Just make sure your plug matches. I believe it's a 6-20P

Q: IT says wattage is suitable for 5,000 wattage loads, but Intermatic info says 4800 wattage, why the misinformation?

I'm not sure why they rounded it up like that. It also cannot be used for heat producing items, dryers space heaters and so forth.
