This is the first review I’ve done BEFORE using a product. I’ve read many of the negative reviews about this product and was confused about its cause. It seems that there are two main reasons for the negative reviews. (1) The hole in the baseplate for most routers is too large for the guide bushing; and (2) The router simply sits on top of the jig and the router, if removed from the jig while still running, can rip into the hole in the jig. I can offer a remedy for each. (1) Once I had read in one of the reviews that the size of the hole in the jig is 1-3/16 inches, I immediately knew that the router’s original baseplate needed to be replaced with a universal router baseplate with a 1-3/16 hole. This size of the hole is actually the standard size for most guide bushings; and therefore requires this replacement for most routers. Note: I’m not sure why Bora states in its product description that their jig doesn’t fit palm (aka trim) routers. But initially, as I have not used it yet, it doesn’t make sense to me. If the hole in the baseplate of the jig fits a 1-3/16 guide bushing, what difference does it make what type of router it is, given the router baseplate fits onto the jig baseplate itself. The router bit is centered within the hole regardless. I purchased the POWERTEC 71381 Universal Router Base Plate for Trim Routers and I’m not expecting an issue. However if I do, there are many universal baseplates that fit midsuze routers. (2) I agree that the jig has a design flaw in that the jig simply sits on top of the jig and can ruin the jig baseplate if removed while the router is still running or it slips during operation. I plan on permanently attaching the universal baseplate to the jig baseplate to avoid this situation. - Insert the guide bushing into the hole of the jig baseplate; - Turn the jig baseplate upside down and center the universal baseplate onto the jig baseplate; - Rotate the universal baseplate to match the screw holes of the router while avoiding the jig’ss ribs; - Mark and drill the holes; and - Install the jig baseplate and universal baseplate onto the router. By the way, the reason I’d prefer to use my trim router is because it’s cordless; and therefore, no hassles with the power cord.

Tight Dados!
Love this jig. Easy to set up, just like the saw plate. Easy to align with the notches. Makes tight dados. I just need a little practice to make clean cuts without burrs at the sides. Sadly though, I raised the router prematurely at the end of a cut the cut while it was still spinning down, the bit grazing the bushing hole causing some minor damage. I was very much disheartened! But the jig is still functional. I'll be more careful next time.

Not Bad, Not Great, Got My Dados Cut
This tool worked. You need to use a Bora track with it, I used an NGX 50” track. The bottom of this tool will scratch the surface of your project. Be cognizant if that. It’s wobbly so you need to clean dados with a chisel. It’s a little inconsistent, some dados were tight like the should be, some were loose. I’ve made 30 or so thus far. I have 3 Bora tools and like many of the blue brand they are expensive, decent build quality, and function ok. The videos online are helpful to get you up and going.

Perfect dado groove for Dewalt Router
Works perfect. Straight stable cut. Easy and simple. Couldn’t ask for a more straight forward solution :)

Wobbly - Wasted Money
I like the Bora track system, but the plastic plates for the saw and particularly the router are flimsy and brittle plastic. In this case, after spending an hour setting up my Bosch plunge router, I noticed that the Bora-supplied bushing did not sit completely flat in/on the plastic hole. Just a wee bit of play. When I made a test cut on a scrap piece, the router slipped out of the hole and the plate is now ruined. I did see a YouTube video where this exact situation happened - and I should have stopped there. It's really difficult to balance the router off the edge of your work piece to get started, and the plastic plate is so flimsy, it wants to "buck" the router out of the guide hole. The whole process requires carefully holding the router down onto the plate, but then you have to activate the plunging process while the router and plate are over the edge of your work to get started. Awful design - sorry, Bora.

Don't waste your money or time.
This is a great idea poorly executed. It is made of light weight plastic that twists and bends. It is so flexible that it takes multiple passes and adjustments to get a dado that is the correct dimensions. I'll build a jig out of scrap lumber that will be less aggravating to use and considerably more accurate.

Queda flojo en el riel y se tiene que ajustar cada ves que se utiliza para que no se mueva y quede la ranura recta

I routered some dado's into some wood for pilasters. The router just sits in the guide so at the end of your cut you have to wait for the bit to stop otherwise you end up chewing up the hole in the guide. I made this mistake twice but fortunately there is still enough of the hole intact to maintain the router in correct position. The guide needs a way of attaching the router to it so that when you lift up the router then the guide comes with it. I did end up with perfectly straight dados thanks to the guide. Somehow my dados ended up being a bit too snug for the pilasters, but that's probably my inexperience with using the special fit function of the guide.

I purchased this a while ago but only really got a chance to use it last week. The cuts are spot on. I will likely purchase another to avoid making adjustments for inner/outer passes.
