Wild Harvest WH-83543 Wild Harvest Advanced Nutrition Diet for Hamsters or Gerbils, 4.5-Pound

I’m not saying this food is the reason my hamster is still alive at 2 years and 7 months but I will say it’s been the only food he consistently eats all of. At the beginning we had to try a bunch of different foods to see which he would take to, and since then I’ve been buying this bucket of food every few months!It’s great bang for your buck, now that he’s older it lasts longer but it does go a few months even for hungry baby hamsters! Combine it with some treats and it’s all they need food wise!!The container (lame thing to be excited for I know) is also great. It’s firm, like a legit bucket, so it doesn’t flop and spill food out like other brands or like my dogs food and it has a lid!

We were feeding our dwarf hamster some sort of pellet food we got at the pet store. I'm not sure how or why, but he basically just pulverized those pellets into dust that he left in the food bowl. We supplemented the pellets with carrots, apples, celery, watermelon, leafy greens, really whatever we had on hand. The hamster was anxious, bit us a lot, pooped a lot every time we brought him out of his cage and seemed agitated or sluggish in his cage most of the time. After about two weeks, we switched to this stuff. Wow, what a difference! He is happy, active, no longer bites, constantly nibbles on the various seeds and grains, runs on his wheel, and just looks and acts a whole lot calmer and healthier. His eyes and fur are brighter. Also, he seems to have made a hobby out of transporting and storing this stuff around his cage. With the pellets, he pretty much just ground them up and left them. The only con is we wish it had no soybean oil or Dyes.

My dwarf hamster loves the variety in this food. I will say you can get a 4lb bag for cheaper so it’s not quite “worth the price,” yet I don’t regret the purchase as I’ll have the container now for refills versus a bag. She loves the corn and sunflower seeds the most. She picks them out each time lol.
