National Geographic Walking Washington, D.C., 2nd Edition (National Geographic Walking Guide)

When I was planning a trip to Disney World, I got the 300+ page book and read it cover to cover, so I wasn’t sure how helpful this book would be in helping us plan our fairly short trip to DC. However, I was pleasantly surprised at its thoroughness and brevity. I loved it! It had one and two day iteneraries along with summaries and pictures of several outstanding landmarks. It doesn’t have everything there is to see in DC. It was simple and enjoyable to use without being overwhelming.

I used this handy little book to navigate DC while apartment hunting.Each day a different metro stop, exploring a different neighborhood. Super simple to use! Small enough to enable me to be hands free because it fit in a small cross body bag.Can’t wait to use it as I get to know my new neighborhood!

This book was perfect for my trip to Washington, D.C.! It had everything I needed, and I was able to see everything I wanted to see.

The map of the Metro and the folding map in the back were the most useful. The guide offers some good tips and off the beaten path suggestions; but just keep in mind that their ideas for one-day walking tours of the various neighborhoods are, in my opinion, quite unrealistic for most families - even families with older kids (teens). Only young people (20-somethings) without kids could possibly complete what they suggest for a day's walking tour. Otherwise, it's a very good guide and resource.

Great guide for planning. The reality is, once you get to DC, maps are free everywhere.

Very helpful in figuring out how to get the most out of a visit to this great city. There was plenty of detail, helpful maps and nice recommendations.

A nice small little guide filled with maps and suggested itineraries coupled with nice photos from National Geographic - recommended!
