I purchased this thinking it was a fabric shower liner. Could I use it as that?

I've used it as a liner for over a month with no issues. I've used other liners that were advertised as such and the only difference is that this one performs better, if anything. My decorative outer curtain gets less wet than with my previous liner and it dried out just as well. I wash every two weeks and have never had an issue with mold or mildew and I live in a pretty humid area. I know it is not sold as a liner by the maker and your question was from so long ago you've probably made a choice already, but just posting my experience for others.

Is this thing durable all the plastic ones I buy the rings rip out?

A few of the metal rings were missing when I received it. But it wasn't worth the effort to return it. After a few months of using the curtain, the holes that are missing metal rings have not ripped and seem to be holding up just fine.
