Great, Updated Method from Alfred Publishing
I enjoy this method *so much more* than Alfred's Basic Piano Library. The illustrations, music, & lyrics are more modern and "cool" and appeal to a wider age range (for age 6-11 years starting in Level 1A). The Lesson book includes short pieces, rhythm exercises, and a few technique warm-ups (tabletop exercises) and a few brief writing activities. At the first level (Level 1A), I use the Lesson (main book), Performance (slightly longer pieces than in the Lesson book), and either the Theory or Notespeller book (writing books) to make this a "full" course at Level 1A and not to skip over any important concepts. At Levels 1B+, I normally use the Lesson, add in the Technique book (includes healthy technique, exercises, and artistic etudes - performance pieces), and Theory/NoteSpeller to ensure each student is getting a great musical education!

A good method book for piano
The book is fine but it arrived bent. I thank the driver for not putting the book in front of my door. I have nearly fallen over items that were placed on the step to my door.

Growing young musicians!
I won't repeat what the general description says- I thoroughly agree! I would add that most songs in this series are solid stand-alone solos, and also feature beautifully scored teacher duets, which afford the students weekly opportunities to make live music with another musician!! The teacher duets are in the tradition of the classics (often based on specific and named classical pieces), jazz, and eclectic accompaniment styles, so the student's musical taste is further developed. Slam dunk! One more note about duets: teachers, our part is a tad more complicated than the accompaniments, say, in the same level of Faber. I find a quick run through the night before lesson day is helpful (but so worth it!)

Perfectly arranged for a beginner..no confusion
I love this series because it goes at a great pace and teaches things in an order that makes sense (unlike some books that teach the staff before being able to identify types of notes ex quarter, half..etc)I use this book along with the performance book to allow extra practice for each new lesson.

President, Shoreline School of Art & Music Inc.
As President of the Shoreline School of Art & Music, est. 1978, and former assistant supervisor of student teachers at Westfield State University, I am familiar with many method book series. I always recommend the Alfred Premier Piano Course because not only is each exercise carefully graded but the books within the series are carefully graded as well. Also, children and adult beginners enjoy the musical approach to learning inherent in each book. Richard Milgram, B.Mus., M.Mus.

Transformed my piano journey
I would highly recommend these course modules. Before going down the road of online learning, with thevarious online learning methods available, then give the Alfred course a try first.I suggest trying to stick with this Alfred course method until at least Lesson Book 4 and then see how you feel before trying any online methods (gimmicks). My wife, a Grade 8 pianist, is very pleased with my progress since working with the Alfred methodology. I know, I certainly can feel the difference in my playing. I find my sight reading has also improved using this course too.I deeply regret going down the online learning route with another online vendor and have lost a lot of time pursuing that learning method. It is a popular online method but once I switched to these paper and pencil-based Alfred course works, my piano playing has really took off and much more progress made in a much shorter time frame. For the first time in 3 years, I am begining to feel confident in my playing and progress. I'm just about to start Lesson Book 4 and plan to go to Lesson Book 6 before reassessing my piano journey again. This particular Alfred methodology works for me, a near 60 year old!

A great book for beginning keyboard
My kids is just beginning keyboard lessons at school and the instructor asked us to buy this book. A very colorful book with lots of easy melodies to play with. They seem to enjoy it too.

All the books in the Alfred Premier Piano series are ...
All the books in the Alfred Premier Piano series are well laid out and go at a pace suitable for young beginners. I do wish they would do them in two books instead of three, though - it is a real pain with three books with slippery covers as they are constantly slipping to the floor!
