I’ve been running CAT6 cable in my home for faster connection speeds and enhanced security.I started by running 100’ cables and just using cable tiles to manage the excess cable. That quickly grew old and I wanted cable just the right length and not have to see mounds of excess cable at my server cabinet or find I was just sort by a few feet for longer runs.I purchased the Kline VDV226-110 Ratcheting Modular Data Cable Crimper and VDV526-052 Cable Tester to be able to crimp my own cable and ID which cables were coming from the different rooms and ensure the connections were sound.Pros:- Quickly ID which cable is coming from which room.- So helpful when labels fall off cables.- Performs continuity test of the cable connections.Cons:- Great for RJ45 connections but doesn’t test coax cables.- Small upfront cost but it quickly paid for itself.- I wish I had spent $30 more and purchased the VDV501-851. I never thought I’d want or need to test coax cable but once I started identifying which cables were which I found I REALLY wish I could ID the coax cables too.Summary:Kline makes great equipment. It was worth the small investment to have tools that work again and again. Consider buying a label maker so you can label them as you go. I found the number of items in my server cabinet keeps increasing and I’m in the process of labeling all the wires to simplify life.

The Scout Junior Tester its an excellent little tester. I have used it with Cat5e cables and it has not let me down yet. I have tested a few dozen terminations with this and it has never steered me wrong. It is simple to use and not only does it throw an error on a bad termination but it will tell you a little about the error so you know what is wrong. The detachable probe is small and lightweight and seems to work flawlessly.Obviously there are more advanced testers out there that can do much more that this tester can, however, for the average user that just needs to test some connectivity between drops or of some cable, this does the job well. I would buy this again. the only reason I gave it 4 stars was I felt it could be priced just a bit better, but overall still a pretty good value for a solid product.

A more thorough tester than some of your less-expensive units. Can handle 66 VDC or 55VAC PoE. I plugged it onto a 48 VDC circuit to see what would happen. Display says, "Volts!" But no damage. This unit tests for proper wiring of twisted pairs; it's not just a simple continuity tester. The detachable cable termination accommodates every testing situation. I also recommend the Klein Ethernet crimp tool and connectors; pricier, but the cables work every time.

I have a large wired network in my house. I needed to trace all the wires and test them for proper cabling. This tool helped make that job so much easier. I was able to locate each wire, with the addition of a tone wand, test each one and move on. When an error was found I was able to tell which wire and what end needed to be repaired. Great tool at a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend this Klein tool, it makes trouble shooting so much easier.

This thing is much smaller than I thought it would be, but truth be told it doesn't need to be very big. It isn't super fancy, but it does exactly what I need. My only complaint is that Klein should have included a case with it to help protect from scratches and abuse inside a tool bag. After making many RJ-45 connections... this has become my go-to tester. You think you've got all the wires in the right place, in the right sequence... then give it a test. It is so easy to make a slight error. This little baby detects any deficiencies right away. Most dependable purchase I've made in years!

Tolles Gerät, hilft mir schon seit ein paar Jahren bei meinen Netzwerk-Installationen.

Het apparaat is kleiner dan verwacht maar qua functies groot. Hij is goed ingepakt in een plastic gesealde verpakking. Bij mij leek het een dead on arrival te worden (ging niet aan) maar dat bleek een false positief. Of de batterijen waren onjuist geplaatst (plus/min omgedraaid); of het was een slecht contact tussen de vier batterijen; of een slecht contact tussen de batterijen met de contacten in het batterijencompartiment. Afijn, batterijen schoongemaakt en juist geplaatst. Dit loste het probleempje op want hierna ging het apparaat normaal aan en bleef het ook doen. Het apparaat werkt erg simpel en in mijn geval heb ik hiermee een defecte kabel/connector -waar ik het vermoeden van had- in mijn netwerk gedetecteerd/gevonden. Erg blij mee! Top aankoop en waar voor je geld! PS. Apparaat niet met geïnstalleerde batterijen opslaan ter voorkoming van leeglopen en/of batterijlekkage.

The media could not be loaded.  Mise à jour de mon commentaire ci-dessous.Bonjour, je reviens vers vous afin de signaler un défaut de conception mineure de ce testeur de câbles réseaux Ethernet. Après 2 mois d'utilisation j'ai constaté un défaut de contact sur le connecteur réseau femelle du petit embout (terminator). Ce défaut apparaît uniquement avec des connecteurs de Catégorie 7 et 8 fait manuellement. Il suffit de bouger sur le côté l'embout et les contact se font correctement.C'est pour cette raison qu'il faut toujours avoir deux testeurs de câbles réseaux !Cordialement.Précédent commentaire:Sur cette vidéo j'ai démarré avec un autre testeur de câble réseau LAN le "MK49 METERK" avant d'aborder dans la seconde partie le "KLEIN TOOLS LAN SCOUT JR." Pourquoi ?Parce que je les ai commandé presque en même temps et que je souhaite vous faire profiter d'une fonction vraiment très utile que je n'ai pas trouver sur d'autres modèles de traceur de câble et testeur de continuité: la recherche de court-circuit sur un fil d'un câble Telecom ou électrique. IMPRESSIONNANT !Concernant le testeur de câble réseau LAN "KLEIN TOOLS LAN SCOUT JR", il est vraiment l'outil indispensable pour tous les techniciens réseaux. Sa prise en main est excellente. Son poids et dimensions très bien adaptés.Et surtout il est très solide !

good quality and good value for money. this is not just an expensive version of the naff ones you see around £10... this brand actually works . i have purchased the cheaper non-branded RJ45 testers and plenty times gives a reading as a pass then had issues with data ... then check it with a workmates Klein and low and behold the faults show up.. i purchased this from a recommendation

El equipo me parece bastante liviano para transportarlo, robusto para el uso cotidiano y tiene las funciones necesarias para cumplir su cometido, y otras adicionales que no he visto en otros, como la de generador de tonos. Quizás lo único que podría pedirle al fabricante, es el cambio de tipo de pila por unas tipo AAA recargables, por ejemplo. Sin embargo, de durar las que trae el tiempo que indica el manual, creo que ya estaría mas que pagado el reemplazo al momento de requerirlo.
