Not useful
This is a big book, over 1000 pages which tries to cover almost every single subject dealing with Visual Studio 2010 and .NET development. It becomes obvious that such a task would require tens of thousands of pages and it is not surprising that in the end the book doesn't accomplish much.On the positive side, it touches on a plethora of areas of development which may be useful to some on their quest of finding out what one can do with .NET and Visual Studio 2010.On the downside, the book is an extremely "light" introduction to .NET development topics. To give an example, the topics of WinForms, WPF and ASP.NET are covered in approximately 120 pages in total! If you consider this sufficient guidance to create "cutting-edge applications" with these technologies then this book might be for you.It was certainly inadequate for me and hence the low rating, I would not recommend it unless you are looking for a very high-level introduction. You would need a number of other books in order to get to "professional" level, this book alone won't do!

Professional Visual Studio (Wrox)
This book assumes that the reader knows programming in their chosen language (VB or C#) and then, details how this can be achieved in the Visual Studio environment more efficiently. What I have read so far has covered a lot of the areas that many programming books won't; valuable aspects of VS that might never be discovered otherwise. Leaning about the many tools and features discussed will lead to much easier, more productive programming and debugging. Code illustrations can be downloaded from the Wrox website.Another great book from Wrox publishers.

Worth buying
This was definitely worth buying. I studied computing degree at university, and I thought that the level that this book was at was excellent. It gives great information about the software and also how to use it, was definitely worth purchasing when I was trouble shooting.
