Works just like it's supposed to... Cobalt is true cobalt color... Make sure to soften the butter and then press firmly into the bell... Use back of a tablespoon to eliminate air bubbles. I put mine near my kitchen sink to remind me to change water every couple of days (or more frequently)... If mold pops up, just scrape a bit out, and use boiling water–or hot soap & water–to sterilize for next fill... Holds just a smidge more than 1 stick...BEWARE: you might start eating a lot more butter and fresh bread... hahaha.

I'm not joking here. I come from a land of hardened refrigerator butter. I have lived a sad and depressing life of holes in my toast, rips in my English muffins, and unmelted butter on my potatoes. Like a beacon of hope, my butter bell arrived from Zoie + Chloe. I can now live again. I can breath the air and eat with softened.... YES, SOFTENED..... BUTTER!Where have you been all my life? Why did our European ancestors not tell us of the truth of softened butter? Alas, I am now at peace.

Finally, after years of pestering my husband, he finally caved and allowed the addition of a butter bell to our kitchen. Now he's wondering why I didn't buy one sooner! This crock keeps butter soft, spreadable, and sweet. Usually I will handwash after every fourth stick of butter (which probably totals up to once or twice a week with my butter fiend husband around) and I change the water every two days. Now I need to get a second one to keep herb and garlic butter in! (Because who doesn't love some garlic bread?!) Zero complaints here! So why are you still reading? Get yourself one! Then get one for your mom, your bestie, your butter obsessed 3rd cousin twice removed, or anyone! Do it now, you won't regret it!

This keeps the butter fresh and spreadable! i gave this as a gift to a friend and he absolutely loves having soft butter on hand, instead of weird squished toast from mashing hard butter into it. I think the instructions should be a little longer , for example, it just says fill with water, but my friend wanted a more exact amount since he had never used one before. Also in the future I would purchase one that is less glossy as the finish on this tends to show your fingerprints.

I bought this because I love butter bells and the last one broke after a session of soapy hands vs. ceramics. I like the amount of butter that fits in this, but the flare of the bell makes it difficult to pull out of the water reservoir. Maybe it's just the one I bought, but I wouldn't recommend this butter bell because of the too-wide flare. The bell can be removed from the reservoir, but it takes finesse (and some scraping).
