Reminiscences of a Stock Operator

For Investors
Reminiscences of a Stock Operator is a good book with a lot of valuable information for anyone interested in stock market trading. I certainly learned a few things while reading this book, but it’s not a lesson book it’s a reprint of a much older book that tells the story of one mans path to riches in the early 1900’s using the stock market. Much of the material I still relevant, but it was hard to bring some of the ideas into modern times. For instance, there’s a lot of talk of bucket shops and how much money the author made, but bucket shops are and have been illegal in most states for a long time. The annotation seems to amount to mostly updating numbers to adjust for inflation to explain how much money he was making using modern values. The section at the end that summarized each chapter was extremely helpful and helped me understand some of the harder to understand parts. I’m not sure if this is new to this reprint, but it was very helpful.I recommend this book for someone that has a deep interest in the stock market, enough to seek out tales about how others became successful. If you already know investing, I’m sure this book has a lot more to offer because you will be able to get to the bones of what he’s saying. For the general reader, it’s a good lesson in history and a look at 1900 America.

Great read and thought I was reading a Mark Twain book. Teaches a learner to be wary and DYOR always.

Stock investor and self-made millionaire Edwin Lefevre teaches others how to play the stocks and earn your millions. But this book takes a fresh perspective. Rather than go through the standard teaching methods, Lefevre uses his own experiences to convey the lessons he learned the hard way. Anyone who wants to invest in the stock market and come out on top will benefit from this well-written and easy-to-understand book. The annotated version provides charts, 2020 insider tips, and other bonus tips.

An Informative and Histoical Read on the Stock Trade
This is a highly knowledgable book packed to the brim with historical information and tips and insights of the trade. However, it was so dry that it felt more like reading a textbook that I was assigned. Informative, yes, but there was nothing to the book that kept the reader interested--save for those readers who perhaps already had an interest in the stock trade, etc.It was also not a very well-edited book (perhaps that was just the kindle edition?), which added to the difficulty when reading. All in all, it was a decent book. As far as I could ascertain, all of the historical contexts were correct and any personal embellishes were appropriate for the author's perspective and that of the characters within.Anyone with a beginner's interest, or even a seasoned interest in stocks, investments, trades, etc. will find this book helpful and exciting, it's historical travels will add a sense of wonder to what we think of today as the stock market and exchange.
