He’s Only Mostly Dead
Ok book 2 is awesome. No cliffhanger, sharp vengeance, satisfying outcomes, heartwarming reunions, souls entwined. I could end here and be happy. But I will keep reading. ☺️

Intriguing
I don't usually read books that continue on to books longer than 2 but maybe since this changes after each 2 it'll be okay. Really liked the plot. Where this is going.

better than the first
This is a great 2nd book. There is a lot of progress and character development. Love Zaina (and Einar) in this book. Looking forward to Aika’s story.

4.5 to 5 stars
*spoilers*The emotions and plot with this book had me on the edge of my seat. I was literally crying along with her when she broke down and wished she had died. And Leif and Sigrid, they were so kind, understanding, and insightful of her situation and with the King's. They were amazing as side characters. The King's relationship with gunner and his sister was also pretty cute with how much he cared about them. It felt really good when they were both upfront, communicating with each other, and realizing the mistakes they had made and their attempts to fix them. Both main characters grew and loved how protective they are of each other, but in the end allowing each other to be themselves and accepting them as they are. I am interested to see their dynamic from an outsiders point of view.I honestly appreciated the fact that it was suggestive of steam but didn't go into great detail about it. I was honestly a bit h taken aback about how dark this series has been so far in regard to intimate matters. I am glad at least two of the four people have paid for their treason. I kind of got the feeling that the one guy didn't die as I originally thought he was there with the two guys in the basement, until rereading and realizing he wasn't. So I wasn't surprised about him being alive in the epilogue.I really appreciated having the King's POV in this book. I am curious how he is going to handle being outside his home now that he is helping his wife take down the main villain. I was kind of hoping they would have another wedding ceremony where they are both genuine in their vows.I wasn't surprised when she ended up getting kidnapped and poised as I had been expecting that to happen to her towards the end of the book.

Incredible Retelling!
This. Book.I don’t even know where to begin. This is the second book in the Beauty and the Beast portion of this retelling series, and it was incredible. The tension between the characters, the build up of the story, everything was so well done. It’s no secret I adore these authors already, but they somehow continue to amaze me. Their stories are so easy to get sucked into, and they’re ridiculously difficult to put down once started.Though the next two books focus on new main characters and will be Cinderella inspired, it is a clear continuation of this story. I will admit I was nervous seeing that each two books had new characters, but with the way this particular book ended, I completely get it and can’t wait to read more.As always, this book was well written. The pacing was good, the descriptions were beautiful without slowing anything down, and I just adore Saina and Einar, as well as some of the side characters. They’re both so fierce and perfectly matched. This series is a bit darker than the authors’ other books but not so much that it would deter their usual readers. It’s got a deep story with a lot of trauma in the characters’ past. Everything was handled well, in my opinion. And there were plenty of sweet and snarky moments to balance it all out.If you enjoy fantasy, fairytale retellings, and kick-butt female leads, definitely check this series out. The books do need to be read in order.

Great Soft Ending to Dark Fairytale
I’m hooked on this series! Two books in and I’m not stopping. The promise of a happy ending combined with a strong lead female and an empathetic lead male is fun to read.

Good story
Not nearly as compelling as the first and HATED the POV shifting, but will certainly finish out the book series.

Working my through the series
I read this series a while ago and have just been reminded how important it is to leave a review. Fabulous retelling with strong characters. Can't wait to read more from Elle and Robin.

Good take on enemies to lovers, Retelling Beauty and The Beast.
I enjoyed the continuation of the storyline, though I don't think we needed the male's point of view. It didn't necessarily add more insight or make the character any more endearing than he already was to me. I think because his tone didn't sound too different from the lead female's.Overall very good retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and a nice take on the enemies to lovers plot. It's always a nice surprise to get my interest captured by a well known story. I loved the tastefully done romance scenes too.My only other feedback would be for the language used, a bit modernised for the setting of the book. Characters use words I sometimes think are out of place and sound more contemporary and too 21st century- I don't know what timeframe this was set in though but it seemed historical.Good book with a lot of potential.

An easy read with a cute story line
My favourite Disney classic has always been beauty and the beast. I love this retelling. I also love having a strong female heroine who can hold her own and a man who is attracted to her independence and strength. This is the second book and it still kept my interest. I’m intrigued to see where it goes from here.

Enjoyed more than the first (Spoilers)
I enjoyed this book more than the first, as everything started to unravel and the story unfold. However it took over half the book for Zaina to tell Einar everything, it was unnecessary to drag it out so much and there was no reason for her to keep things from him after the fact everyone thought she was dead. There was too much re-hashing of the first book and it just needed to get on with the story, more energy could have been used on the ending. Zaina was far less annoying than the first book once she started to open up and it was nice to see the love story take more root. Overall there wasn't a great deal of storyline to this book, it repeated everything that happened in the first book for over 50% of it, they got the cure, killed one bad guy and 99% of the book took place in Einar's quarters. I gave it 3 stars as it is an easy read, with some enjoyable chapters and kept me interested enough to want to read on to the next book to discover what happens with the other sisters and madame.
