do you add k&n oil or out of the box an just drop it in

Just drop it in. It only needs to be cleaned and re-oiled after 50,000 miles of normal driving conditions, i.e., not dusty.

Are K&N Filters ready to use out of the box or do I need to also purchase the oil and apply it prior to the first use?

I take them from the box and place into vehicle. I only re-apply oil after cleaning.

Quality at it’s finest

I swapped my stock filter with this K&N replacement and immediately noticed smoother acceleration and a little extra power. Install took less than 5 minutes—it literally dropped right in.
