This is not a device for a novice or inexperienced hi-tech storage person. The levels of security / encryption and device management are exceptional and can provide close to financial grade security with multiple levels of authentication. A group of ten people can use this effectively if they are not intensely updating large files. Works well on a symmetrical gig network and has highly configurable notifications, warnings and the like. Do not buy if this is your first attempt to master networked RAID storage that will connect with multiple platforms that are located in many different geographical locations.

As a power user with 10+ terabytes of data I need to hoard, good storage at a home user price is tough to find. This is my 4th qnap, which is now serving as a backup for my TS-963x. Absolutely recommend it, it is light years beyond a standard 1 or 2 bay consumer grade NAS. Having integrated hybrid backup is huge, it seamlessly backs up to idrive.

WD社のHDDレッドをセットして使用しています。別にsynology社のNASも使用していますが、ソフトウェアも含め、QNAPの方が私は使いやすいと感じています。音も静かで動作の安定感も抜群です。 特に音楽を聴かれる方は、QNAPはtwonkyサーバーに対応している(別料金が必要ですが)というのが他にはない最大の魅力ですね。twonkyサーバーなら曲順がおかしくなることもなく、ストレスフリーです。 なお、他のメーカーから音楽専用のNASも発売されていますが、3万円台の専用モデルと比較したところでは、全く音の差は感じませんでした。
