A Child's Garden of Verses (Wordsworth Children's Classics)

Black n white book vs the earlier reviews showing coloured pics. Poor paper quality with see-through pages. Paid for delivery of such a poorly printed book. Disappointing to say the least that I don’t even feel like picking it up to read to my son.

The media could not be loaded.  There are no coloured pictures in the book as mentioned in the reviews... Only black and white sketches..I ordered seeing the coloured pics but my copy is different...So might hv to return...

my copy came with a different (much nicer) front cover, the illistrations are really lovely. my mom had this book in the 70's and i used to look at it when i was little. its something i think every child should have growing up. this is a really nice paper back version and such an excellent price with fast free delivery!

Robert Louis Stevenson's, A Child's Garden of Verses, is a classic because it develops your child's perceptions. It moves from close up observation: the garden, the quilt on the bed, the window and things in the room, to abstracts and distant perceptions: wind, rain, the swing, one's shadow, and lands over the seas.There is a reason children who are read to develop keen minds, literacy skills, and good relationships with parents, and this is one of the best early childhood reading resources. Memorization of Stevenson's poems is worth the pleasure and practice, to develop your mind and your child's. The verses will pop up when you least expect them and will stay with you through the years.

I was awarded this book when I left my 'primary school' in 1957 and I loved it.As I read through the verses again I find I still love them. Im so pleased to have found this on Amazon
