The exciting content improved his reading no end. Review: My now 10 1/2 year old has been reading the Jack Stalwart (now Jack and Max) books for at least 2 years now. They are one of the few series that really capture his attention, to the point that he will sit and read for an hour or more (that’s a lot for action-oriented boys). He can’t wait for the next installment. These books are kind of a stepping stone reading level between easy readers and regular chapter books. The chapters are generally 2-4 pages, so it feels like you’re progressing quickly through the action. I especially like the geography aspect of these books - Hunt sneaks in a lot of world culture and geography, which are another reason my son loves these books.
