Just as I remembered. It requires a working Gameshark or modded system (or modding a US n64 game cartridge) to work on a US N64 console, but this was the superior wrestling game compared to WCW/NWO World Tour with the roster size and edit mode.

Buy this game!
My favorite wrestling game of all time. Huge roster of incredible wrestlers from the era. Includes WCW and NWO guys so even those not well versed in Japanese wrestling can get into it and best of all it has Jyushin Thunder Liger 'nuff said.

Surprisingly High Amount Of Replayability For A Game Of Its Age (4.5/5 Stars)
I regard myself to have three favorite video games - GTA V, Final Fantasy VI, and the entire THQ/AKI Anthology for the Nintendo 64. After playing through WCW/nWo World Tour, WCW/nWo Revenge, and WWF No Mercy, I wanted to get my hands on one of the Japanese versions of the game. Once I found a region converter, I found a copy of this game for purchase and plugged it in.This game blows WCW/nWo World Tour out of the water and might be more enjoyable than WCW/nWo Revenge for many. Also, this release is slightly more English-friendly than Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 since the main menu options have English titles (and plenty of translation guides exist online to help navigate the Japanese-only menus for English speakers.)The game’s roster is absolutely massive. Since the game has an official WCW vs nWo license, most of those wrestlers are carried over from World Tour (DDP and Macho Man are unlocked from the start, while fake Sting, Wrath, and Glacier were omitted.) While the game did not feature official licenses from any Japanese promotions, the lax copyright laws there allowed for facsimile wrestlers to be included… and for their appearances and names to be edited in the Wrestler Edit screen. This results in having wrestlers/fighters from New Japan, All Japan, Michinoku Pro, and two in-game promotions - World of Universe and Dead Or Alive - That act as a respective mashup of UWFI and Pancrase along with WAR and FMW. THQ/AKI toned this down a bit in later releases (this is the only game where up to 5 different characters possess an in-game slot - All after this capped it at two) but doing so resulted in close to 100 wrestlers being available in a game from the 90s.The replayability of the championship mode is what’s better than its WCW/nWo US counterparts. The leagues follow a set tournament or round robin for the respective league championships and offer up about a dozen or so unlockable legendary characters - From Antonio Inoki to Mike Tyson. This leads to an endless amount of dream matches even after all of the championship modes have been completed. Also, the game has a battery so you shouldn’t need a controller pack. The downsides? The grappling engine isn’t as refined as in the subsequent titles, so reverse grapples can be a bit harder to pull off. That said, KOs are easier here; so that’s the trade off.I recommend this game not just for fans of the THQ/AKI games on N64, but also wrestling fans who may have enjoyed the rosters on the Fire Pro series but want an easier engine to play with.

way better than WCW vs. nWo World Tour with so many playable wrestlers and unlockables
This game, Virtual Pro Wrestling 64 had it all. It was one of the best wrestling games I ever played on the Japanese Nintendo 64 because it had so many wrestlers from WCW, nWo, WWE, NJPW, AJPW, UFC, Hall of Famers, Legends, Boxers, and Muhammad Ali. However, a few wrestlers from World Tour aren't in this version such as Wrath (Bryan Clarke of KroniK), Glacier, and nWo Sting (Super J). It's ok, Macho Man Randy Savage is already a playable wrestler from the beginning. This was actually the first WCW game to have Edit mode which later made its way to WCW/nWo Revenge the following year, different outfits and renames to do.All the other modes are still there as before, and it's so much fun in multiplayer for the old school fans that know best.

Solid Condition
I ordered on September 6th and it was suppose to be here on October 27th but was delivered September 21st, a month and 6 days early! ☺ really unbelievable. The condition is really, really good.As described and the entire game was unlocked and completed with all the hidden wrestlers already in-game. I erased it to start from the beginning and unlock everything myself. Sad, they don't make games like these anymoreI 100% recommend10 out of 10
