Wow what can I say. I love Vince and Mia they are adorable together. BUT Matteo, what can I say he really is something else. He’s the character you don’t know whether to Love or Hate. He is Hot and Heavy and a total D**K! Having said that you can’t help but wonder what his next move is gonna be. Pretty sure he’s the character that everyone doesn’t want to like but at the same time can’t help but fall for his charm. I can’t wait for book 2 xx

I really enjoyed reading this story. Mia Mitchell is a young girl, a good girl, is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Vince Morelli, a guy with a shady family, a well known mob family. What starts out as a bit of light stalking turns into a cute young romance that turns into something very dark and unexpected. Some lighthearted moments and some very dark and disturbing scenes. I’m still a little stunned at this story and Mateo Morelli is firmly in my head.

Fantastic start to an epic series. I love mob books and was surprised by how much I loved this book. I have reread it and the rest of the series multiple times since my original purchase and every time it gets better. The characters are clearly defined and the plot well thought out. The complex nature of each of the characters showing that it is ok to be flawed and that love isn't perfect even between soul mates. It is beautifully written and I highly recommend it and the rest of the series for any who love a gripping romance full of action, passion and secrets.

This book wasn’t anything like I expected it to be. I assumed I’d be getting a romance between Vince and Mia but that’s not what I got from this.I didn’t feel anything for these two at all. It didn’t help that I didn’t particularly like either of them. And I didn’t buy their relationship or romance for a minute.I really tried to like Mia but I failed miserably. Same for Vince.The main problem for me was the whole book was overshadowed by Mateo. He’s a ruthless man who plays with people because he can. And both Mia and Vince were far too weak as characters to put up any kind of fight or even make it interesting.I’m curious about Mateo and want to read his book but wondered if it would be more of the same. So I’ve checked ahead and read several reviews and apparently general consensus is it’s better. Meg is said to be a great female character and so I feel much happier moving onto the next book.

I love dark romance, mob romances specially are one of my favourites and this one was awesome.Dark, smutty and angsty, this book hit all my buttons. I love a good villain and Mateo is everything! He is so despicable, I'm here for it.Excited for book 2!

I do love a good mob story so I was delighted to find this series.This is the first book I have read by Sam Mariano and I did enjoy it. The storyline was well thought out and I thought Vince and Mia had really good chemistry during the first 30% of the book but after Mateo was introduced, he is such a strong and charismatic character that Vince's character kind of lost his spark and was a bit wooden for my tastes.I was a little disappointed with some of Mia's decisions towards the end of the book even though overall I did like her character.All in all, it was a good start of a series and I am super excited to read Mateo's story next!

I absolutely adored this book had the shock factor in it for sure. I'm so excited to carry on with this series 😊

What a story!! twisted and so so deprave!Thank god I have a bright opened mid because this story is so crazy and it’s good. There are lots of twits and very dark moments but even though I fell in love with bastard MateoGoing to the next book now

I’m just going to throw myself off the cliff and dive into the vast sea of this Good vs. Evil mob book.Mia is a young woman living with her mother and her two younger siblings. The mother works a lot, and when she isn’t working, she is out with her boyfriend, which means that Mia is left taking care of her younger siblings, a lot.One night she witnesses a house fire with deadly consequences for the two people living in the house. And the worst part is that she doesn’t do anything. She doesn’t try to help or call 911, she hides inside her house and hopes that no one sees her. The thing is, that standing outside, looking at the fire, she sees two men leave the house and one of them is Vince. A guy she knows from school, and she knows he comes from a notorious mob family. She is well aware of what she just witnessed was a mob hit!As it is, Vince sees her, and he knows he can’t leave any witnesses alive, and he tries to hide from the rest of the family that Mia saw him. But the head of the family Mateo finds out, and all hell breaks out, and this is when the story of Mia and how she gets tangled up in the mob begins.Oh boy, this was an utterly captivating, riveting and absorbing story and I couldn’t stop reading it until I had reached the last page.Sam Mariano’s writing was SOLID, and I was enthralled and hypnotized by the story.All the characters were likable, in their own wicked way, but the three most important characters, Mia, Vince and Mateo were the stars.I was a bit wary about Mia in the beginning because it didn’t appeal to me that she didn’t do anything about the fire in the neighbor house, but I soon forgave her, and I ended up understanding why she did what she did. Mia’s character was brilliantly well written and I felt her. Her joy, her pain, her love, her despair.Vince is a young man, caught in a lifestyle that he would do almost anything to get out of. He is in love with Mia, and he tries to protect her the best he can.Mateo is the head of the family, and he is paranoid ( perhaps with good reason) frightening, scary and intimidating. He is cold hearted and is ruling the family with an iron glove. Or is he really that cold hearted or is that all just a front to hide who he really is? Mateo is wickedly attractive and I was drawn to him like a moth to a candle. Knowing it will probably kill me, but I just can’t help myself.The book has some really scary scenes, but I get the feeling, throughout the entire book that Sam Mariano holds my hand and she takes care of me.I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, because I’m absolutely spellbound.Thanks to the author for this spellbinding advanced copy.

Vince was such a fabulous hero. I loved his vulnerabilities and his goodness in living in a family he wishes he wasn't a part of and feels more of a pawn than a human being. Mia brings something more to his life, hope for the first time. Mia is such a solid heroine. I loved her sweet nature, how she is with her siblings, and her determination to fight for her love no matter what it costs her. I thought I knew what to expect going into this one, but yeah, even this author, really threw me for one here. I was so torn over this family, but this whole love triangle between these three I didn't expect but you know I have been looking for something wild and crazy and this definitely delivered in all aspects.If you are a fan of mafia romance, or even dark thrillers, you might really love this one. But keep in mind that you will need to be invested in the whole series to fully get the full experience of it. I adored this one, and the whole sense of forbidden feels totally delivered all the way for me.What I Struggled WithThe whole love triangle and there is some non consent scenes I wasn't prepared for. The abuse of Mateo is pretty bad. I saw the ending coming but it still managed to surprise me anyway. I would have liked to have seen more of a breakdown from Mia, though. You go through that kind of trauma and just shrug it off? Little unbelievable. Mostly well done story though!
