The Knifeless Rebar is perfect for environments and job sites that need a handy set of tools, yet don't allow for knife blades. Built for tough jobs and the hands that do them, the Knifeless Rebar features scissors instead of a traditional knife blade. Good, But Could Be Better
THE GOOD: This multitool seems to be sturdy and mostly well-designed. It does not feel like it will break unless it is abused. Overall, the ergonomics are good and the tools appear to be properly shaped, with plenty of metal in them. The pliers, in particular, are impressively beefy - much more so than the ones on my excellent original Leatherman Wave. The knifeless Rebar is rather light for a full size, full featured Leatherman: mine is only 175g, versus 189g for the standard Rebar and 224g for my original Wave.THE BAD: However, there are also some problems: the biggest by far is that the joints are all too stiff. The pivots that attach the handles to the plier jaws were so stiff out of the box that a dangerous amount of force was required to fold and unfold the multitool. I think it would have been very easy to cut myself while trying to force the handles to fold up with the saw deployed. I solved this problem by loosening the pivots slightly - something that is actually quite difficult to do without special tools, as Leatherman did not design them to be serviced by the user. The pivots at the opposite end of the handles are kind of rough and stiff, but not dangerously so. I was not able to fix this myself, and have decided to just live with it rather than go through the hassle of warranty service. It's annoying, but opening the tools on those pivots is still easier than pulling with a fingernail against the spring in my Swiss Army Knife, so I shouldn't complain too much. There was a random tiny scrap of copper bushing trapped under one of the wire cutter inserts, which was easily removed.CONCLUSION: I would recommend this tool, but only if (1) you really want/need a knifeless model and (2) you are willing to send it in for service if you get one with improperly adjusted pivots (I'm far from the first person to have this problem with the Rebar). If you aren't trying to avoid the knife, get the Wave: the design is better in lots of little ways, and it's had fewer quality control problems than the Rebar. The blades on the Wave are great, and the outside-opening design prevents the opposite handle from getting in the way when cutting over a flat surface like a cutting board or a work bench.Despite all the complaints, I am largely satisfied with my Rebar, and expect to use it for many years to come.

I like it. Well built.
I ordered this Knifeless Rebar model to get the scissors. The replaceable cutters are a plus. I also have a Leatherman Surge which is very nice but pretty heavy to carry in a pocket, and a Leatherman Juice S2, which is good but a little small for some tasks. The mid-size Rebar is just the right weight to carry around.I didn’t care about the lack of a knife on the Rebar, as I usually carry a separate pocket knife. (I refuse to fly on airlines, so whether or not the TSA screeners like the Rebar is irrelevant to me.)The only problem I’ve had with the Rebar is that it’s very stiff opening and closing until it’s broken in, as others have noted. It is well constructed, as is typical for the Letherman multitools.

my EDC go-to
It has been almost two months since I got my Knifeless Rebar, and has been carried 4-6 days a week. I llike to have scissors/snips handy, and the awl have been flawless for poking, scraping and light drilling. The bottle opener has been used at least ten times, and has been great. The file is quite aggresive (which I like), and has been good on wood, acrylic, PVC, and mild steel. The #2 Phillips driver is one of the best among multitools, and have proven itself multiple times without camming. The saw works excepcionally well, at least with 1/4" plywood, 1" schedule40 PVC, and twigs and small diameter tree branches. The pliers open quite wide, and the replaceable cutters work on coathanger wire, stranded wire, jack chain, finishing nails, and hooks without getting nicked or exploding to bits! The pliers' tip is so precise that I could pick hairs from the floor with it. Its functionality has been suplemented with the Leatherman Removable Bit Driver(RBD), and an added #1 and #2 flat bit in bit card. For the time being, it has replaced my Wave and Bladeless MP600 as EDC; lighter more compact and as fuctional as those two (although since my Wave is a 2Gen., it has finer/thinner pliers tip and is more of a needle nose than the Rebar, giving the Wave a better chance on precision/electronics work). Now, the not-so-good: during the first week, I had to deburr the handles/chassis due to sharp and cutting edges all around ( and some residual flashing over the file's cutout in handle which pricked me more than once). Also, had to adjust the tools' pivot on both handles, as tools flopped when pliers were deployed. Had to deploy/retract the pliers continuously as to loosen them up (it required tremendous effort to retract them); it stated in the description that it would came with the standard sheath, which to me is the nylon one, but came with the leather box sheath: no way of fitting the RBD with the tool so had to get a nylon one (which, by the way, I modified to have a "front pocket" by making four stitches down each side of the front panel and then undoing the top stitch). Also, it will/can not accompany me into Federal buildings and state/municipal courthouses because of the saw (chalk one up for the Bladeless Gerber and its blade holder!). But still, it is one of the most comprehensive, light, compact and functional multitool out, and has a proven ruggedness as to trust it as an EDC implement. Plus, it has timeless looks. Yes, I'd recommend this tool to anyone thinking about getting it!

like not carrying a knife
I carried another Leatherman for many years but lost it a couple of years ago. I finally got around to getting another one, this time going with one without a knife blade since I carry a knife with me at all time anyway. This Rebar is very well made, it fits the holster well, and the holster seems to be well-made. I carry this Rebar everyday and, like not carrying a knife, I feel naked without it. A very handy tool.

Functional, lightweight, and complete
This multi-tool had the right combination of components for me. I chose one of their designs that had no knife blade because i always carry a knife and don't need the extra blade. The tool does have a saw, scissors, and a file and it fits nicely in my hand. Be careful not to pinch a finger when you first open it. I squirted mine with WD40 and the tools slide in and out of the frame easily.

Nice smaller Leatherman, but it could be better.
Leatherman needs to get rid of the loop “tool” on this model & replace it with a tool people can actually use. In fact there’s empty space next to this loop where 2, not just one, tool could be! Otherwise, it’s a good Leatherman.
