If you use dynamic mics, you probably need a Cloudlifter.
Brilliant box. Has given my favorite dynamic mics (Shure SM7, Sennheiser MD 421, Royer R-121, Beyerdynamic M 201 TG, etc.) new punch and volume. I also have a few of their single channel CL-1 boxes that I keep attached to mic stands. The Cloudlifter delivers a solid 20db boost with no coloration and no noise. Suddenly I have lots of headroom on my input gains, and now have the freedom to select any mic in the locker based on its tone, response curve and pattern, without regard to output levels. These wont make tube pre-amps obsolete but they fill a very real need and have become an indispensable addition to my toolkit.

The Cloudlifter is a fantastic product. Had a small issue with some XLR cables and thought I had made a mistake. Switched out to shorter cables and the gain is perfect/very clean for my dynamic mics. A must have for the serious podcaster.

Must have for any home studio
Cloudlifters are great and a must have! I've tried other gain boost but they do not provide the clean gain that the cloudlifter does. I opted to buy the cl-4 to save money and be able to mount it.

FABULOUS UNIT - GREAT WITH MY WIRELESS
I am part of a 4 part A-Capella singing group that uses 4 wireless microphones directly into our mixer. My group RARELY stands on a stage and prefer to go out and perform in the audience directly. Before the CL-4 we were constantly running into feedback issues, pops, hums, squeaks and so on. Then we found the CL-4! We were able to increase the volume as well as the clarity and all the annoyances were removed. Since we have 4 inputs, the CL-4 is incredibly practical and fit nicely in our rack. - Full disclosure though, I did not get this unit directly through Amazon, But, it is SO great a product I wanted to write a review here and say, "get it"
