The tank fighting in Normandy...
The Allied fight in Normandy in 1944 is fairly well-plowed ground. However, veteran historian Steve Zaloga has managed to ferret out some new and interesting data in this Osprey New Vanguard series book. The book explores the numbers and relative performances of American and British tanks and why there were differences. This is a very concise presentation, focusing on the various types of Allied tanks present in Normandy and how they did. The narrative does a brief capture of ongoing upgrades, especially to main gun penetration of armor as the Allies encountered advanced German tanks such as the Panther and Tiger. The book includes a terrific selection of period photographs and modern illustrations. Well recommended as a short introduction to topic.

Insightful analysis and excellent graphics
This is a concise evaluation of the fights between tanks during the time-frame following D-Day until just before Sep 1944. It provides some new insights and fast-paced examination of the conditions affecting the combatants in different operational areas. This is a great reference for all.

Informative about the Allied Armor in Normandy
Very British focused and informative about the armored vehicles they used during the Caen campaign. Yes, American armor is briefly discussed which is where my interest lies. Canadians and Polish unit are mentioned too.

Good book, but questionable value for money
As anyone familiar with the author's other work would expect, this is a good and interesting book. At 48 pages long, it is more of an introduction for those wanting to learn more about the subject and a useful aide memoire for those who know their way around the topic reasonably well. The book is decently illustrated and contains the usual interesting nuggets of information.I don't feel that a 5 star rating is possible, though, since the book is, in common with the others in this series, 48 pages long, and the full price - mine was bought with a price reduction, though - now seems rather excessive for what you get. While I can understand why slightly obscure short publications (for example long out of print pamphlets on a relatively esoteric subject) might command a premium, I'm not quite sure that this work merits a price not far below that for, say, the Fletcher/Zaloga book on US tanks in UK service (granted, slightly different subject matter), which is over four times longer.

Shame
Not enough time devoted to British tanks..they must have been there. Seems too much on shermans. Waste of money shame l was looking forward to th
